    GE Timer

Chris The switch is on the left. you should be able to jumper the red and orange wires to bypass the lid switch. On my machine it will still fill with the lid open but not spin. This switch is also the out-of-balance cut-off. If you reach in the back just above the tub you can feel the lever...

    Looking for Skinny Mini motor

This may help I recently did some repairs to my 1970 LCT-2 Skinny. New parts installed and all put back together and the motor would not start. Hmmm. It worked two years ago the last time I used it, but it had a bad bearing so was very noisy. After quite a bit of trouble shooting, I found it...

Remembering Service Stations of the Past

Somewhere around 1930... My grandpa's Ford dealership in Waynesburg, Ohio. Gas pump is Allegheny Gas. Never knew my grandfather, he passed away in 1933 when my dad was just 13. Dad told stories of the new Fords coming in on railcars on a siding behind the building.

    What a bargain!

Yes! I had a fleet of "baking powder" submarines for the bathtub. They would submerge and surface. I think they were packed in Cheerios, but could have been another brand.

    Sunday Sale Shopping

This is what my $4.00 bought today at one estate sale. Steam iron cleaner and a sprinkling bottle for my laundry needs. Realistic Weatheradio, that works, for the latest in weather info. Spare cord for one of my roasters. Ekco stainless vanadium utensils, and a Corning Cookmates kettle for...

HELP, 1970s GE Portable Auto Washer

I'll take a stab at this... I have a similar GE portable, so I took a look underneath. It appears to be part of one of the suspension rods. My machine has 4, one in each corner. At the bottom of each is a spring and at the top of the spring is the Styrofoam piece. Springs are visible on...

Coming soon to Ogden - a new storage and display for the vintage laundry equipment!

Looks fantastic Paul... but I have two burning questions, 1. Does this mean no more "stern face" from Hubby? (I quite liked that, you know) and 2. What have you been cooking for him to accomplish this? You're a lucky guy! Bill

For Better Or Worse It Is Mine - GE Mobile Maid

Good show! When I work on things sometimes you have to show it who the boss is, and other times you have to walk away for a while and think about it. Eventually the solution will come to you.

FREE early ISE TOL Dishwasher in Pittsburgh.

This is the same DW that I installed a few years ago in Mom's house. I likened it to a 21 series KA. Works great. I'm selling Mom's house now and considering a swap with the Whirlpool DU1100 I have, but I may just leave it there. The WP is a good performer.

For Better Or Worse It Is Mine - GE Mobile Maid

If I remember right, the hose connection to the water valve is a screw-on like a garden hose. It may be loose or the washer is dried out.

For Better Or Worse It Is Mine - GE Mobile Maid

Launderess, It's been awhile since I've been under my MM, my daughter has been using it for several years. The screws that hold the front panel, do they go thru the main body? I can't remember. If so, is it visible on the backside that you could get a vise-grip on it to turn it? Bill

    1964 GE Dryer 1DA820Y4W

Thanks, Ken The paint is Rustoleum Appliance Epoxy in spray cans for the outer cabinet and panels and I had a quart of the same that I used for the inside with a brush. It dries a little slower than regular spray paint and the cure takes more like a week, but it gives a really durable finish...

    1964 GE Dryer 1DA820Y4W

Thanks, Greg Here's the mod/ser of the donor, DDE5200LDWH/ML209088G You're probably right about the year. There were subtle differences between the two machines. The original blower housing only matched the mounting holes on the bottom portion. New holes were drilled in the cabinet to match...

    1964 GE Dryer 1DA820Y4W

I got this dryer back in October 2013. It came from the original owners' estate and sat in the same place since it was installed new. Still plugged in and in use. The right rear bottom of the cabinet was rusted thru after years of sitting next to the matching washer, which was replaced some...
