Tunnel of Fudge Molten Lava Cake

I was reading about how this cake was a sensation when a woman from Houston, TX entered into the 1966 Pillsbury Bake Off. Seems like it created a run on Bundt pans, which up to then had been modest selling items. We made it last week, and I have to say, this was one scrumptious cake!

    Talking about cook books

Recently while under the shelter-in-place order here in Michigan, my sister and I spent a few hours putting together a 1000-piece jigsaw puzzle that featured covers of vintage cook books. The puzzle was a gift received from my brother a few years ago, and with extra time at home it seemed like a...

Mixmaster, Pound Cake and Watkins Vanilla

Eddie that cake looks wonderful and rich! Nothing better than a good pound cake. Congrats on your "new" Mixmaster. I remember seeing those from time to time when they came out and always wondered how they performed. Sounds like they are good machines. I've used Watkins vanilla and other...

    60's Hotpoint Stove/Range Combo

Hotpoint Welcome, Trey! John Lefever has one of these in the museum kitchen in MD. We actually used it cooking for the Wash-In a few years back and it worked very well. The unit sits on the countertop. You don't see these too often - worth holding onto!

NOS woodtone GE drop in range

A small custom cabinet maker shop located in a small Michigan town was being liquidated a couple weeks ago and there were lots of interesting items there, especially if you were looking for wood working equipment. There was an old showroom and one of the displays had this GE drop in range with...

    Asian Cocount Chicken

Louis - you're welcome! Hope you give it a try! Tom - there's too much light over and around the stove to see the "Color Glance" controls with the camera, but I can see them. The area that lights up in color is actually fairly small. Yes, the medium-high setting fits that Faberware saucepan...

    Asian Cocount Chicken

We are big fans of Thai cuisine, and this dish was inspired by something I recently enjoyed in a restaurant. If you had the time, you could make this in a slow cooker, but I used a Dutch oven and cooked it in the Westinghouse.

    Dill Pickle Soup

Here in the Detroit area, one item you'll see on every Polish restaurant menu is dill pickle soup. It's probably a staple in other Polish or Slavic communities, and it's something my family has been making ever since I can remember. It is chicken stock based, and really doesn't take long to...

Roger - that’s a dish I also enjoy but haven’t made in years. I’ll have to dig around and see if I can find my recipe for it.
