Actually you can put a few drops of oil on the brake and the squeal will stop. Don't put enough so the tub doesn't stop though....just a few drops.

When the machine finishes the cycle, get the clothing out of it as soon as possible. ALWAYS leave the door ajar and the dispenser drawer pulled out about 2" If you do that the problem won't get worse. On a new machine if you do that, you won't ever get mold on the boot and outer tub ever.

Two completely different machines! The Whirlpool is mostly plastic. The only plastics on the Speed Queens are control knobs, drain hose, (tub to pump hose etc... is rubber)outer tub is stainless, agitator, fill flume, etc... The Whirlpool will be long gone while the SQ is humming away.

That machine is a really great dishwasher. I've been selling several of those machines a week with absolutely no customer complaints at all. I wouldn't be surprised if you DID get 20 years or more of trouble free service out of it. Right now I would say it's the best on the market.

I replace the boards in these machines continually. These machines are plagued with problems. I usually am called to service them at about 1 year and a month old. Just out of warranty. More Whirlpool junk

Actually it's not a deflector. It is a tab that tells the service tech that the tab should be installed at the top upon replacement of the tub boot. Upon installation, you won't see much of it at all. That's it's only purpose.
