A part fell out of my washer door and now it doesn't work

So is this resolved yet? I located the magnet in the tray on my KM twin to the BigSquareDoor model Frigidaires. It's tucked inside the front of the drawer (part #48 in the drawing) along the right vertical edge as you look from the front of the tray. (The same side as the number 49 is found...

Hot Fudge Cream Puffs - It's a Detroit thing

Found this on another site I read It's undated but I suspect it is from the 1940s. An earlier, calmer time. Can you imagine ordering your lunch two days in advance?

Hot Fudge Cream Puffs - It's a Detroit thing

Vernors floats with vanilla ice cream In Detroit, back then, (and maybe still) this was called a "Boston Cooler".

Hot Fudge Cream Puffs - It's a Detroit thing

Woodward Avenue just north of Michigan Avenue on the west si That's pretty close to where we would park. El Jefe could have easily walked to there. A Google Map view of the area today shows it quite different than it was in 1969. Re. Vernors: My favorite thing from Sanders was a milkshake...

Hot Fudge Cream Puffs - It's a Detroit thing

I don't ever remember us going or seeing a Sanders downt When the chief went to the Sanders downtown, we parked on Griswold St. between Fort and Lafayette and waited in the truck. It's forty years ago, and I don't remember the details any finer than that.

Hot Fudge Cream Puffs - It's a Detroit thing

I grew up in Detroit and remember Sanders very well. When I was in college, I worked as a student civil engineer for the city, on survey crews. One year our party chief was plagued by a stomach ulcer, and treated it by drinking several milkshakes a day. He demanded that these come from...

    Water Softeners

The area of Tucson AZ in which I live has very hard water. I have used a softener for most of the 30+ years I have lived here. The last time I replaced the device, a couple years ago, I decided to run potassium chloride in it as opposed to sodium chloride. That has worked out very well, there...

question about wireless networking and using a WiFi printer

Connection via the USB is a "local" connection, as contrasted to the "network" connection obtained via the wireless radio system. I think you will need to uninstall the printer driver from the main computer, disconnect the USB cable, and then reinstall it again as a network-connected device...

    IBM

It's an interesting article. Some of the notable events do not correspond to my own recollections of the history of computers. e.g. I don't think the 1401 was the first "mainframe computer", especially not in 1959. Also there is that "Noble Prize".

    Phone Thread

I have a land line I have to, it carries my DSL for internet. I own, but do not yet use, a 354 wall phone that I got because that's what we had at home when I was growing up. On eBay I bought a replacement backplate for it with a modular wall mount. I lost enthusiasm for the rewiring project...

    Western Auto stores

There was a Western Auto store in the Belmont Shopping Center at 8-Mile and Conant in Detroit when I was a kid in the 50s. It was the only store that had a catalog that I could reach on my bicycle, so that led to a lot of studying and checking stuff out in the store. I always assumed there were...

FL WASHERS and BAD MOLD SMELLS; when did you 1st hear about this issue?

They look at an old design and improve it in some ways Design changes mostly drive down the cost of materials and manufacturing. IMHO of course.

FL WASHERS and BAD MOLD SMELLS; when did you 1st hear about this issue?

First Heard of Mold, Etc, On This Site also one other, a commercial page called TheHomeSite or somesuch, back in 2005 when I was looking for a FL machine to replace my 27 year old JC Penney (GE/Hotpoint) top loader. I had no particular knowledge of front-loaders at that point, just thought...

K-mart Smell What I remember from walking into K-mart was the smell of onions from the stack of pre-made "sub" sandwiches they had nearby the door.  I don't know how old they had to be before the onion odor escaped, but for me it was most unappetizing.

    JCPENNY 1977

I bought the JC Penney washing machine in 1978 mostly because I could figure out that it was really a GE underneath. Didn't know about Hotpoint then, would not have made a difference.  The tell-tale feature was the slotted rubber "japanese lantern" coupling between the pump and the motor.

1963 Mercury Monterey 2-dr Present from my Dad on my 21st birthday. This is the one which had the rear window slanted the wrong way, and the center section of which could power up and down. It had the 390 cube engine and would cruise at 90mph all day, much to the chagrin of my passengers. I...

    Polish Recipes

OK Polish folks The jellied pigs' feet were called by a name in Polish that literally meant "cold feet". Phonetically it is "zheem-nyeh nawgy" approximately. Anyone know how to write that correctly?

    Polish Recipes

Studda Bubba I think "bubba" is another transliteration of "babka", "babcia", etc. which is a familiar name for grandmother. I think it actually comes from the head scarf called a "babushka".   "studda" I don't know.  I can guess it is related to the Polish word for elderly. Once again, I...

    Polish Recipes

Angel Wings This is something my Polish grandmother made.  The recipe provided agrees with how I remember it.  The name "Bozie Milosti" could be Polish, "Bozie" is a possessive meaning "God's".  The name we called these by was different. I don't know how to spell it other than it began with...
