    Guess whats coming!

The vast majority of machines do and have done for a long ti Hotpoints used to have 3 until 1981 I think. Our WM52 was used for months with bad brushes (yes the wash results were awful, but we were living in Germany and couldn't get parts or a repairman) and it never damaged anything else on...

    Guess whats coming!

Well sounds like it needs new brushes and the belt refitting Would have set you back less than a tenner and would have been easy to fit yourself on a machine with the motor at the top. I suppose there is a small chance u blew the timer by running it with bad brushes, but I highly doubt it...

    Guess whats coming!

I don't see any cracks in the outer tub and the black marks will be dirt, mine has them. so basically it won't work cos the belt has come off have you tried putting the belt back on? It will more than likely tumble again. Matt

    Ebay UK February

Does anyone know if the early round door Logics used the sam I remeber my best friend as a kid had a white round door logic 800, but I specifically remember it having the same facia and door style as the machine above. All the round door Logics I've seen here and on ebay look just like the...

    Guess whats coming!

I believe they do but don't expect the rinsing you had from the wm53 4 rinses with good interms using a total of 85l of water will naturally produce better results than 2 rinses using almost half that. If I had to use one I wouldn't dream of using it without extra rinse. Matt

    Guess whats coming!

the rinsing will hopefully be better than the current Hottie Highly doubt it if I'm honest. The ones I've seen don't rinse all that well, and certainly are poorer than WM Hotpoints Sorry I just really dislike these Indesits :) Ok I'll keep my gob shut now! Matt

    Hotpoint 18580

Wow! Looks so stylish with the chrome door, this is my favourite of the 18- series Hotpoints, I prefer it to the purple liberators! :D Matt

    Help identifying our first Dishwasher.

That's the one! Wow! thanks for the quick response! This really takes me back :). Our's was very basic, so I'm guessing it would have been the Starlet 4153, unless there was a more basic model. I remember feeling so technically advanced when we got that, wasn't long after we got this the...

    Help identifying our first Dishwasher.

Hi all, My parents first dishwasher was a grey fascia Servis from the 80s, which I assume would have matched the 6000 series Quartz washing machine. It was bought second hand from my Aunt in 1996. I remember it having one dial and a big on/off rocker switch. We only had it about 2 years. It...

    Today's Pic of The Day

One question about Westinghouse Laundromats I know the original Bendix machiens had a 300rpm spin speed, but I'm sure I heard on here that the Westinghouse machines had something like a 180rpm spin! Is this true? If so, how dry do they leave the clothes? Also what was the top speed of the...

    R.I.P Hotpoint

But you can get a much better Zanussi for less and the Hotpoints are just awful in comparison in terms of reliability and build quality. Even a Beko would be more reliable than the Hotpoints. Matt

    What machine to buy?

if you can afford a Miele They are definately worth the extra expense. I personally don't like LG much, but I don't think they're too bad. I've never heard of Selectro but Bosch/Siemens are better than LG in my opinion. Matt

    R.I.P Hotpoint

Don't get a new Hotpoint They're pretty cheap and crappy. If you must buy a new washer, go for Bosch or Zanussi if you can't afford a Miele. See the "New Washer" thread, that pretty much applies to anyone buying a new washer I'd say. Matt

    New washer?

Infact I would suggest the Bosch Classixx WAE2416SGB. 6kg load so it's bigger than what they have now, 1200rpm "B" rated spin will be the same as they're used to, and it has about the best build quality and wash/rinse results for the price. They may prefer a higher end Bosch, but I personally...

    New washer?

I'm sticking firmly with the suggestions that either an AEG/Electrolux/Zanussi/Tricity Bendix, or a Bosch/Siemens/Neff machine will be the best one for the price. Beko seem better than other cheap machines, but that's still what they are, cheap machines. They have said they're willing to pay...

    R.I.P Hotpoint

well personally I think it sounds like it would be worth get I'm sure it's nothing too drastic. As for a metallic banging noise ours did this from new. From my experience these machines are utterly useles at balancing and mine shook itself to bits on spin. I remeber seeing on Watchdog when...

    New washer?

one thing to bear in mind about capacity a lot of them lie :). For example, Hotpoints rated 6kg, 7kg and 8kg all have the exact same size drum now. So bear that in mind before they choose a machine for it's capacity over build quality, etc. Also remember that a 1400rpm spin is normally B...

    R.I.P Hotpoint

the brushes went on my Ecologic and in 2 loads it went from being fine to not tumbling whatsoever and the drum will still sound fine when turned by hand if the brushes are broken. If it does tumble then it will make a crackling sound as the brushes are sparking. As far as I know these machines...

    New washer?

Zanussi or anything by the eletrolux group really. Bosch/Siemens would be a good choice, but I'd say Electrolux machines are slightly better. I couldn't really recommend anything by the Indesit company or Candy Group, although I've heard the Aqualtis isn't too bad. Have you tried tempting...
