Energy use of older washer/dryer set

Energy sources Hello everybody - back from holiday again... Well, actually there is something to keep in mind concerning the sources of energy you use for heating (water, air, cooking, etc.)!! Stevet, you are right to say that the emitted heat of an electric heater element is almost 100% given...

    Low Temperature Washing!!! Feedback Trail.....!!!

Washing at low temperatures As a German I must say that we still have - and always had - the opportunity to do boil washs here in our FL, and still many, mostly older women, do when it comes to whites or boil-proof coloured articles (towels with INDANTREN colours). On the other hand hardly...

Keeping Warm This Winter. Gas? Oil? Coal?

new home We are looking for a new home now for weeks and month - we thought it 'd be easier to find the place we want - but isn't... But our new home is to be a house, an antique one and I insist on solid fuel heating for main heating or with gas in combination for splitted heating. So keep...

English to be the official language of the European Union

Hello, Keven! I decided here and now: we MUST meet! I absolutely like people with an attitude like yours - we must exchange more ideas than a few words here! I agree totally with you, my dear! I refuse to accept this new "Schlechtschreibreform" (bad-write-reform in English, isn't it? lol) and I...

English to be the official language of the European Union

How dreadful and it made me laugh out loud to read it - even me, as a German, hate the new reform of writing, we had last year officially constituted in Germany, Switzerland and Austria, and which they forced us to accept without asking us people wether we want it or not! I personally turned...

    Dear Tide,

I coppied it immediately and will hang it into our laudry room in the basement - next to our package of TIDE with Bleach I bought last time when was in the States!! Hoping that the English of my neighbours is good enough to understand it... Ralf

    My Newest Vacuum!

Nothing new! There was, some years ago, a thing like that - just mechanically like an air-pump - on the market at QVC here in Germany. I do the same by just inserting a little plastic tube from a former ball-pen into the plastic bag and just suck the air out with my mouth before I close the...

Persil Colour Care (Unilever) - new enzymes!

Cellulase and Co. Hi MRX, you need cellulase for the colour-and-style-effect! Glycoidase is the same as Amylase (amylum = starch, glycos = sugar/sweet, '-ase' = '-down-breaker') as this is carbon-hydrate diluting stuff. Starch is a complex sugar molecule and is going to be broken down into...

    Mint?

Hallo Whirlpolf Schau mal hier rein!

    although it's not a wringer-washer...

Yes, it is electric! The motor runs with 220-240V AC but the heating must be done by solid-fuel fire! Guess the machine can cope with about 20kg dry weight per load and will take about 1-2 hours to wash and rinse it, depending on the temperature you want...warm/hot/boiling. Ralf

    although it's not a wringer-washer...

This is a real MIELE washing-machine from the time of the 1920-30, I guess... But way too expensive!! Ralf http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270175748803&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:DE:1123

A Philips toploader turns up in the Netherlands, pictures of the famous CC1000!

My Aunty in Abergavenny/Wales had one of those Philips and I liked it - was a very good machine and lasted for ages! But the 40 cm slim machine we had at home was a terrible machine! Ruined the floor because it had no suspension but excentric wheels underneath which were supposed to catch the...

    I have a bluing question

Blueing in Germany Blueing is commonly unknown today here - only grannies can tell you about that stuff... but....there's a catalogue (quite expensive one though) that sells all good ol' things from all over the world: MANUFACTUM, which is also to be found in the internet: www.manufactum.de...

    Miele! When vintage means...

Hi, Diomede and Louis! Yes, I remember those MIELE machines - they were quite handy! It did not mean to boil clothes seperately in a copper-boiler first anymore and then transfer them by hand into the tub or tub-washer to get them really clean by washing them. This was the most dangerous part...
