    BD Laundromat

Laundromat with Inglis When I was a kid, whenever we visited my grandparents in Dunnville, Ontario, there were 4 laundromats in this small town. One of them was in the building my grandparents lived in (SQ washers/Huebsch dryers). Down the road from us, a new one (at the time-1978) opened...

    '48 Coronado in Minneapolis?

1948? I thought this machine would be much older, unless they still offered semi-automatic bolt-downs as a lower priced line during that time. WP/KM made fully-automatic washers with suspensions throughout the 40's.

Found and bought off C/L: Coppertone 1971 Kenmore 800 dryer...

Appnut re: Roberta "I'd forgotten about this until now, but our washer arrived in February or March of 1971. My mom had a parakeet named Roberta whose cage hung in the breakfast room next to the laundry room. She'd start chirping and singing away when the Kenmore finished draining the tub of...

Heads up - older 'plug in' Kenmore dryer in CA

Japanese Minis I don't remember the Laundry Cart (maybe it wasn't in Canada), but I do remember when Sanyo started selling mini automatic washers and dryers here in the 70's. The cabinets were mostly plastic, the washers had an impeller-type agitator, and the dryers had a little round tinted...

Heads up - older 'plug in' Kenmore dryer in CA

WOW!! I didn't think compact washers and dryers existed back then. That appears to be from the 50's. I wonder if it was actually made by WP, or from some other company either here or abroad. The full-size WP dryers of that time had the vent in the top corner behind the top-mounted lint...

    Vintage Hamilton Dryer in WI

Question Did Hamilton actually build the very early Maytag, Easy, GE, Kelvinator, Frigidaire, and some others with the 3" vent, or were they just built simularily?

    White-Westinghouse TL Washer - Atlanta,GA area

Maybe late 80's ...with the Franklin tranny.

    Washer Debate

There's an ongoing debate on which style of TL washer is best in areas of tub design, filtering and drainage. The makers of solid tub washers claimed: Fresh water is added as dirt and lint overflow and go out the drain, not recirculated into the clothes; After agitation, wash water is spun out...

    Old Maytag dryer

"AMP" Dryer This is a down-flow Maytag made during the same era as the AMP washer.

    Solid tub machines

Solinoid Cycle Change Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think WP/KM is the only make that ever had a perf tub with a one-way drive motor and tranny, with solinoid-controlled cycle changes. Every other perf tub I know changes from agitation to spin via reversing motor (sadly, even the later...

Thanks:) This will be very intriguing to see:) Gary

    Solid tub machines

Suds Return I always wanted to see the suds return cycle in a solid tub washer. I've seen them in perforated tubs, where it agitates as the suds come in through the bottom, but I've never seen how it works in a solid tub. I figure the suds must have to come in over the top of the tub.

Yogitunes I'd love to see some Suds Cake! I'd be hitting "Suds Return" over and over again!

    Vintage Appliance Olympics

RCD Yes, "High Thump" sounds more fitting. I was racking my brains to think of a sport that matched the up-and-down motion of the Frigidaire agitator. Keep em coming! Gary "InglisCanada"

    Kenmore Multi Action

I just saw a new ad on TV about the Kenmore Multi Action washer. It's a front loader, and the ad says the drum turns 5 different ways. I searched the net to find details on how this works, but didn't find anything. According to the commercial, it looks like the drum tumbles fast or slow, or...

    Attention Portable Washer Fans!

WCI That's a WCI portable; either a Kelvinator or Gibson, or one of the others under that umbrella. I recognize the slanted instrument panel. In Canada, Eatons had Viking-branded versions of these.

    What's all the hype about?

Quick Question (maybe for Unimatic) Which trannys had the one-way motor (agitation and spin changed by soleniods), and the two-way motor (motor reverses for agitation and spin)? Gary
