I didn't think compact washers and dryers existed back then. That appears to be from the 50's. I wonder if it was actually made by WP, or from some other company either here or abroad. The full-size WP dryers of that time had the vent in the top corner behind the top-mounted lint screen, whereas the vent on this machine is on the same side, but halfway down. It also has the air intake on the front. If this has a lint screen, it's hidden somewhere, probably in the interior like the later models. It's hard to tell whether or not this is a miniature version of the old WP belt-and-pulley drive dryer. We'd have to see it's innards. I'm also not too sure if this was ever sold in Canada, or when compact Inglis washers and dryers became available here.

In Sears stores in the late 50s and into the 60s, when this was in the catalog with the little square cabinet washer, the pair were not even shown in the same department with the full size washers and dryers. The were on display with irons and laundry room-related things across the aisle from washers and dryers and big wringer washers. I think I remember someone saying that the washer and dryer were manufactured by Proctor-Silex which might have something to do with their being displayed with the irons. The matching washer had a round tub and an agitator and I seem to remember, a hand-cranked wringer.

I don't remember the Laundry Cart (maybe it wasn't in Canada), but I do remember when Sanyo started selling mini automatic washers and dryers here in the 70's. The cabinets were mostly plastic, the washers had an impeller-type agitator, and the dryers had a little round tinted see-through door.
