    Admiral Washer & Dryer / $200 / San Diego

This was one of the second generation Performas that came out in January 1999 until the Amanatags took over. This is when they introduced the "dual drive" transmission with the lower post drive to replace the more Norge designed high post drive. The Atlantis line came out at the exact same...

    Admiral Washer & Dryer / $200 / San Diego

That was the common strait vane agitator commonly used in the Performa and Magic Chef machines. It just looks different because it has a cap on it instead of the softener dispenser.

Was there a reason that GE went to the strait vane agitator. And how long was it used ? GE washers where what we had growing up. A 1968 model with black Bakelite spiral Activator replaced in 1984 with a white plastic spiral Activator. I don't recall seeing many strait vanes.

    Odd vintage electric center?

But if you look at how the mounting screws are configured it looks as if the odd angled one is part of the normal 15 amp one. It has a single center screw like any typical duplex outlet would. And of you look closely they have the same emblem between the two slots. The two 20 amp outlets do not.

Speed Queen FL on the fritz *again*

Made in Mexico or not those motor control boards are failing at a alarming rate. I have changed 8 out of 10 in my 1.5 year old coin op machines.

Speed Queen FL on the Fritz, Need Help Troubleshooting

Not likely a power surge Not sure about the household models but I have had 6 out of 10 boards fail on my coin op machines that are 1 1/2 years old. All at different times. Very costly if out of warranty.

Trusty Commercial Maytag just bit the dust. Which SQ washer and drier?

I'm curious as to where Speed Queen states that they test FL washers to 25,000 loads. On their website the longevity calculator is based on 10400 loads just like the TL. That's very close to what we see in laundromat life. But I don't think it's fair to compare home use to laundromat use...

Maytag A712 - Calling all experts! Help w/ troubleshooting

We would be pretty close to those prices. Our service call is a little less ($60) but I think the pump does sell for closer to $70. So about $150 total repair. $270 seems unreasonable in my opinion.

Maytag A712 - Calling all experts! Help w/ troubleshooting

It's only one problem The timer will run right through the OFF segment and start the next cycle if the water level switch is satisfied at the end of spin. Problem should be minor. Worst case is a new pump but could be a belt or obstruction. If it sat unused for a long time the pump pulley might...

    *NIB* Kenmore Wringer Washer

I don't know that the plastic wrap on the rollers convinces me that it's unused. They are very quiet (near silent) machines. I always thought that being direct drive had a lot to do with the quietness.

Can anyone help me to identify model and year of Maytag Wringer washer

The wringer head might have been changed from another machine. The agitate control knob is red as it probably should be.

    Wait, reviewed.com knows us?

Nothing that I said in my reply was intended to be political but it seems that to some people anything said that isn't inline with there belief becomes political. Reply #57 starts off complaining that everything is political but ends by saying that modern machines run circles around the older...

    Wait, reviewed.com knows us?

From a real world experience as a service technician i am in about 150 homes each month. I see very few appliances that are 10 or more years old. And I am talking about all the appliances in the home not just what I am repairing. When I first started in 1990 I was repairing appliances in the...

    Unusual Kenmore Dishwasher

Whirlpool built for sure. Back then most Kenmore dishwashers where D&M built machines. Only the top models where Whirlpool built.

    1997 Cadillac Seville SLS...

Somehow I just don't see a Cadillac Fleetwood or Sedan deVille on the showroom floor anytime soon. But I really do like a lot of Cadillacs new exterior styling. I particularly like the new XT6. They always seem to (me anyway) manage to put a hint of old designs in the new models. I don't find...

Maytag LAT2600AAE - flooded laundry room twice now.

I think that Malcolm has it correct that larger level load leak and smaller ones do not. It definitely sounds like a brake problem to me. Still bet that the brake assembly unscrewed (unwound) from its threaded connection to the damper hub. How well does the brake work if you lift the lid when...

Maytag LAT2600AAE - flooded laundry room twice now.

I think that it could be a brake problem. If it filled to the correct level and stopped filling then it is not the fill valve or level system. A failed brake will allow the tub to spin backwards during agitation. Because the motor is running in the agitation direction the pump is not draining...

10 year old Speed Queen Spin Noise - Ideas???

I think that the current SQ top load is a excellent machine both in quality and performance. I wouldn't even consider anything else from today's market. But, I don't think it compares in quality to the Maytag DC. I agree that in the later years the quality diminished. The revised stem seal had...
