What got you fascinated with laundry machinery in the first place?

round and round, up and down... My obsession began with my Grandmother's Unimatic...she had a red Cosco stool that I would climb up and watch her WO-65...I distinctly remember the aroma from the hot water, mixed with the Wisk in the metal can, and Clorox... In the meantime, at our house, we...

    What is your favorite Supermarket?

PeterH is right... For several decades, Kroger has been a mainstay in the ATL...but their quality varies greatly with location... I live about a mile from a borderline ghetto mega-Kroger, interestingly named the "Kroger Fountainbleau"... I get my prescriptions there, and their pharmacy staff...

How do you add your soap?

Doesn't it get lost in the holes?... I never put detergent in an empty tub, for fear it is wasted... For the Westy, I open the door during the fill and put it in... For the Amana/SQ, I usually pour it under the water stream, either on the clothes, or in the tub with at least 2 inches of...

    Maytag MDB7100AWQ

I had that same dishwasher... It's superb...wish I had taken it when I moved... It doesn't have a fan-assisted dry... However, I never used a rinse agent, and still got excellent drying results... George

    Maytag 1996!

Those were the days... I used to have a Jetclean with the Six-Tier wash system and the Random Wash tower back in 2000... Wish I had brought it to my current house... Light years away from the 4-year old...

    Pic of the Day 2-7-11

To all the Members who have given me Thanks

Washers...dishwashers...they're both wet... And go 'round!!!... David, I enjoy these scans tremendously... They bring back such good memories of when I worked for WCI and the original Roper in the '80's... You have inspired me to clean my closet so I can access my small stash of brochures...

    WONDERFUL, EASY BEEF STEW!

Quite tasty it was... I too left out the potatoes, and used the oven, as opposed to the crock pot, method... Served the stew on a bed of mashed potatoes... Prep time was about 15 minutes... I like those kind of recipes... George

    General Electric 1962

Such fun these are... And I'm sure you're a busy guy... but... if you get the chance, I, and probably everyone else, would love to see the '63, '65, and '66 brochures... thanks so much for scanning these... I'm still looking for the washer we had, and thinking it must be in one of the remaining...

Amana washer and dryer brochure scan.

Faux pas = my bad... And here I thought the 3.3 cubic foot measurement included the allowance for the agitator... If I were the manufacturer, I'd skip the "usable capacity" measurement, and stick with the tub cubic foot... After all, the larger measurement does sound more impressive, and I...

Amana washer and dryer brochure scan.

Oh no...a leaker!!!... I got one of these on CL for $50 a few months ago... It's an ALW432, probably a big-box derivative of the 430, with the same features plus the extra rinse button... Tub is huge, fills water to the very top, and has a vigorous agitation... Regular cycle is fast wash/spin...

    WONDERFUL, EASY BEEF STEW!

I was wondering that too... Has anyone tried this in a Crock Pot?... And will Jello Tapioca Pudding work?... I just happen to have a box on hand... Sounds like a good recipe to help us emerge from our deep freeze... George

Which dishwasher cycle do you use most often & why?

Maytag TT also... The majority of the time I use the Heavy Wash, with the High Temp option, and Heated Dry... I used to select the Auto Clean cycle, but it seldom changed the water after the pre-rinse...instead, it dumped the detergent, resulting in the "wash"...I assume the sensor is supposed...
