    1-18s on eBay

I don't know how to link, but somebody in Indiana is selling a mint Frigidaire 1-18 set on eBay. Is a club member thinning out his collection?

Best of luck to everybody caught in this mess. Please stay safe.

Veg's Crap, Chapter 3: Welcome to my bathroom

What every bathroom needs White Minx for tinting those peroxide streaks and Spray Net to keep that bouffant perky.

    CorningWare ain't CorningWare no more

The Pyroceram stuff was available under the name Corning Classics, but the line got smaller and smaller until it disappeared completely. Fortunately the stuff is damn near indestructible and pretty common on the secondhand market.

    Beauty Contest, Part II

Although I have a marvelous glamour shot of myself with cigarette holder and houndstooth coat, I have no scanner--I'm poor. Sorry to disappoint.

    Washing Machines In The Movies

A white Philco set can be glimpsed in "Candy" ('68). The mother-in-law in "The Burning Bed" had white Maytags and a box of Fab. "Abby," a very rare blaxploitatoin version of "The Exorcist," features an early '60s Kenmore set, with the washer and dryer at right angles from each other. The...

1970 GE FILTER-FLO WASHER - in Morris County, NJ

That is almost exactly like the V16 my cousin and his wife had in their old house. If nobody wants it they should donate it to the Salvation Army or something.

    Suds and studs.....

It would be nice if Falwell would just fade into obscurity, like his onetime cohort Anita Bryant.

    Gifts with Purchase

Congratulations on your lovely new home. Those are all good sturdy appliances. I'm sure whatever is wrong with the Maytag can be fixed very easily. I've cooked with fixed heats; it's tricky at first, but you get used to it.

    Washing Machines In The Movies

That was a GE set in "Weird Science." Can't really tell what Ellen Burstyn's machines in "The Exorcist" were...possibly Norge or Blackstone.

    Washing Machines In The Movies

There's a Maytag AMP (?) in the utility room in "What Ever Happened to Baby Jane." Mia Farrow ads StaPuf to a window-lidded Frigidaire coin-op in "Rosemary's Baby." Poor abused Christina does the laundry in two Lady K combos in "Mommie Dearest" (though the action happens in the '50s at this...

Appliances On The Big Screen: Part Six

Speaking of Julia, does anyone remember Dione Lucas? She had a cooking show in the '50s that Food Network (back when it was TV Food Network) used to rerun. Apparently the sponsor was Caloric, because she was always telling you to "preheat your Caloric gas oven to 375 degrees..."

Appliances On The Big Screen: Part Six

There's a '60s turqoise Kenmore set in "The Birdcage."

1975 or so Maytag A2065 Washer Needs a Home

Why not try selling it in the newspaper? A lot of people would love a good Maytag, and even with the problem you could still make a couple of bucks.

    **Whimpers**

I've seen pictures of Porta-Dryers mounted to the wall above full-size washers. In this case it looks like they stacked it on top of the washer with some pieces of wood.

    1969 Lady Kenmore Combo Restoration

That is one groovy combo. Dig that marbled control panel! Congratulations on a job well done. I can't wait to see it working on a load of laundry.

    kitchen progress

I can't wait to see that chandelier. My cousin and his wife just moved into an old row house that hasn't been touched since the '70s. That means built-in planters, parsley green carpet, and hanging glass globes on dimmer switches. No matter what the home makeover shows say, the old stuff is just...

The Kelvinator From Hell - not for weak stomachs

Congratulations. You've brought a classic Kelvinator back from the dead.
