    Todays POD----

I think.... in Canada, McClary and Easy merged or bought one another out at some point. A very common brand through the 60's here was the "McClary-Easy". My mother had a McClary-Easy stove for 20 something years - as a kid I always thought it meant it was easy to use. Sometime in the 80's...

    And what about trains?

I've always loved trains and here in the west, there's not too many left - in Vancouver there's just the Canadian that Pete mentioned and Amtrak to Seattle. Even more than the trains themselves, I love the stations. The grandeur of the old Canadian Pacific stations or Grand Central in NY. In...

    Fleas Fleas Go Away

AND..... if you have a hot air heating system, make sure you get the vents and ducts. My house was infested a number of years ago and it wasn't until I vacuumed out the ducts that I acutally FINALLY got rid of them.

    pondering Bendix

Today in the house I'm working on I found a couple of pages from the Victoria Daily Times, June 25, 1953 - 2 pages from the "Womens" section complete with ad for a Philco fridge for $264.95 plus 2 pages of classified houses for sale. One of them is an "Uplands Luxury Home and Grounds with...

POD 14-May-06 McClary 700 Set in Harvest Gold

We had a 1962 "McClary-Easy, Proudly Canadian" (those days are gone) stove most of my childhood - really cool chrome script with the automatic senso-therm element that never worked. I have a McClary washer now from around '80 - it sounds like a lawnmower but it keeps on going!

    Working Cord Switchboard

A cordboard!! I used to run one of those in the late 70's (I was practically a child) at a taxi company. I loved working that thing, even used the vice-grip headset once in a while when feeling especially like Lily Tomlin. Still love that purring sound it made.

    My First Vancouver Wash-In

LOL Pete! I KNOW! Although Commercial Dr is changing rapidly, all that's missing is a GAP and I'm sure that'll be soon. There are days now that you don't even see one person in Birkenstocks ...

    My First Vancouver Wash-In

Hey Eddy, I'm an east side boy now, just Commercial and 2nd but it feels like a world away from the west end. Used to be at Gilford and Comox in "The Kenmore" (appropriate I think)that had possibly the best laundry room I've ever seen, complete with 3 sets of concrete laundry tubs, miles of...
