    1972 Kenmore Set

A question If I read correctly the label of the washer, it says "120 V / 9.8 A" which gives about 1 kW: isn't it a bit too much for a washer (which I suppose does not have a heater)? The power should be just that of the motor, and 1 kW motor seems a bit too much. What am I missing?

    White film....

But isn't it dangerous? If you use a detergent containing bleach (as far as I know, such detergents exist in the USA, although I believe they do not exist in Europe) and mix it with citric acid, you are actually producing chlorine, which is toxic

PLEASE READ THIS, My Appologies Everyone!

No need to apologise indeed I completely agree with the other members, Robert: you must not apologise. Regardless the reason and the fact that it was not your fault at all, problems happen, but I thank you very much for all your hard work to keep this site running smoothly. Believe me...

Finish Booster Am I wrong, or it is just plain citric acid? http://rbnainfo.com/smart-label.php?productLineId=815#ingredients

    Removing blood stains?

Enzymes I have had good results using enzyme-based stain removers for blood stains: just apply and watch the stain disappear. I used the Ecover version (which contains a single enzyme: subtilisin) but there are many others that I am sure would work...

Method Laundry Booster with TAED (US)

You suppose right, Launderess... ...or at least that's exactly what I do: I buy sodium percarbonate in bulk and I add it to liquid detergent when washing whites

Help needed: J-B Weld for an oven

@reactor You are right, but the fan is very, very, very loosely fixed on its shaft, and nevertheless it runs smoothly, so the perfect balance should not be an issue. I assume that it is because the fan is very lightweight and the speed is not very high

Help needed: J-B Weld for an oven

My crappy Siemens ventilated oven has a problem: the oven fan “rattles” because is it not fixed to its axle. For what I have seen, there is not a strong or fixed bond between the fan and the axle (crappy design…) it seems that the fan is not held by the bolt (I hope this explanation is...

Bosch vs AEG - Which one would you choose?

AEG/Electrolux made in... Sorry, aeg03, but at least the TOL models of AEG and Electrolux washing machines and dishwashers are actually made in Italy, unless they made them in Italy for me only...

Bosch vs AEG - Which one would you choose?

Electrolux brands Electrolux periodically change their brand strategy. At the moment the Electrolux brand is promoted on the Northern-European countries and in Italy and France (I am surely missing some) while instead here in Germany only the AEG brand is used

Bosch vs AEG - Which one would you choose?

I am partial... ...but I would always choose AEG/Electrolux over BSH. For twenty years all my appliances have been AEG/Electrolux, and I have never had any really bad experience. Functions are good for my needs, and build quality is not bad either. I think you should also consider how good...

Another "Aunt" vanishes from the breakfast table

...and also The explanation of Kenwashesmonday in Reply #5 gives a complete new meaning (new to me, I mean) to the "Uncle Tom's Cabin". I am ashamed by my ignorance.

has anyone had this problem with there 220 volt dryer?

...and the outlet I repeat what has been said by others: the outlet must be replaced, because even if it wasn't defective, now it has been damaged like the dryer cord

has anyone had this problem with there 220 volt dryer?

Same problem with a dishwasher Many, many years ago, my family had the same problem happening a few times with an old and big 220 V dishwasher that drew something between two and three kilowatts (about 10 or 15 A) for a quite long time. The problem was the plug / socket (receptacle?): the...

Samsung 18kg machines - why not here?

Why not in Germany? I don't know why, but I noted that also LG and Hoover (Candy / Haier) do not sell their high-capacity washers in Germany, while they sell them in France

an oven question for Europe / UK members

Facts My problem is that I find it difficult to take advertising for a fact, especially when the advertising is only in the "History" section of the website and consists of the single sentence "The Boretti collection is designed in Italy and produced by Italian family companies." quite weak to...

an oven question for Europe / UK members

That's what they say somewhere in their website... ...but in all honesty I am not sure those "small, family-own Italian appliance manufacturers" actually exist, or exist anymore. Not to mention whether a small appliance manufacturer could ever be profitable and survive. "Made in Italy by small...
