    Last Gasp For Maytag?

Re: my two cents Arrooohhh, I couldn't agree more on your last statement that appliances are something we all need; only food and medicine would take a higher priority. Unfortunately between the shareholders wanting to make more money and a fickle public who don't give much thought to their...

    1956 Whirlpool Dryer

For what it's worth, Venus I would just keep looking until you find one willing to do what you need. You may have to search out a place that specifically does powder-coating, body shops that I service do not. During the slow periods, many of the smaller shops are willing to paint appliances...

    70's topload dryer

Hi Louis-thanks for the pic of this set. I think these are so cool-makes great sense to design a washer and dryer like this and with the convenience of waist-high loading/unloading. I wish we had more like this available over here in the states. David

Early 60's GE Filter Flo with lighted control dial

Lighted dials Funny, I can't ever remember seeing the dial on a 58-59 GE washer lit up. I did see the dryer's dial lighted (More of a green color) when running. I never understood that, figured only the dryer dial was lit, not the washers. Now Lesto says his was growing up. I must not remember...

    What Is it?

Hi Jon I waited patiently for the surprise-knew something must have come up. It's beautiful, I presume a 61 model thereabouts? And it's in such good shape-was it ever fixed up and painted? Your combo collection is impeccable.

You wash, you dry, So do you iron?

Oh, I love to iron... NOT!! anyway, I don't mind it, but its one of those pesky little tasks I'd just as soon hurry up and finish. Only iron shirts and slacks; everything else can get folded and put away. I have a GE "light and easy" S-S-D iron I bought from Walmart brand new almost 20 years...

1978 1/18 Set In San Antonio

Hey Austin- Good Show, man. This proves that Frigidaires actually exist in Texas (Well Glenn's was first). I'm still out on Louisiana (actually I saw some years ago). Still holding out for hope. Toggleswitch-curious to know about washers in other parts of the country? Down in La is what I can...

Re: Saturday's "POD" Norge Gas Dryer:

I,for one, like having a gas water heater and gas logs in the event of winter power outages which can last several days or even weeks. Anything else can be either gas or electric. Ice storms happen often enough in the middle and upper parts of the south, more often than snow does, to cause real...

    New coffee maker

Venus-the coffeemasters are beautiful! Venus- that's quite a collection of these rare, but well known pots. Seems like the people that owned them were more "upscale" than the average Joe who used a stovetop drip pot. Got any toasters? I always liked the one which raised and lowered the bread...

    Oh let's face it...

My stepdad owned a curtis mathes It was in our living room for years-fianlly went out and pur chased an RCA, sometime in the late 80's. It was a nice set, well made in Athens, Texas which is about 120 miles west of where I live. My understanding is that the employees of CM bought the company...

    New coffee maker

community medium roast-arthur! It's what I use most all the time, but I have been known to break away and make the dark roast. I love a good strong but smooth cup. No bitterness. Love espresso, cap; french drip I've never made. Ever made french drip, with the little white porcelain pot in the...

    Today's POD-Westinghouse computerized laundry

Now that you mention it... I remember those dryers upside down. Must not have hurt the innerds. I can also remember the window getting hot. A lady who kept us during the week had a big family and those ground level Westy twins. Enjoying the dryer was only rivaled by the laundromat. God I...

    New coffee maker

Oh yeah, I love that jolt! If I werre a drug user, I would probably have to have meth. Glad I don't do that, since I crave the speed effect of strong coffee. That stuff would probably kill me!

David To get rid of the Maytag stack, there's always the Pacific LOL!

    New coffee maker

Well, I'd like one too, Veg Veg-I would like one of those old stovetop Corys' in glass, as I know those old Sunbeams are hard to find( I do know they make great coffee). I think you have to watch them when the boiling water rises up the stem so the bottom pot isn't left empty on the burner...

    Induction Electric Cooking

Re: Asian and Portable induction cookers Quite powerful at 2800 wts to say the least. That's the first thing I thought of: ideal for use at buffets especially during sunday brunch cooking all those omelets. The one I go tto (ok I admit at the "Holidome") uses those little bottled propane...

    Today's POD-Westinghouse computerized laundry

Hi Arthur I think at the time that Westinghouse only offered electric dryers in that time period your family had those. BTW those spacemates were cool-were they stacked or undercounter? I remember a family down the street had stacked ones in yellow which matched the rest of their Westinghouse...

    Induction Electric Cooking

HoHo-Tolivac-love reading about this stuff. I also haven't seen these induction ranges for a while; thought to myself they would be the way to go. Can you or anyone else also tell me what happened to the electric ranges with the European style "hob" rather than the coil? I have only seen a few...

    Switching back to a classic

1.6 flush isn't bad nowdays I had a toilet that was among the first of these water stingy models and one had to stand over it to make sure it didn't stop up and that it flushed completely. I wore out a plumber's friend on it. This new one is much better. Haven't had any problem with it...
