Pressure Cookers - Love or Hate Them?

A GREAT tool in the kitchen! I love my Presto cookers. I have a 4 quart model 60, and a 6 quart "Meat - Master" 606. My stepfather teases my, saying "Who would want to build a bomb on their stove?" But as long as you replace the over pressure safety device, make sure the seal is in good...

    '49 Westinghouse refrigerator

I was reading the post concerning the 50's Frigidaire with the clamp on the compressor. On the Westinghouse, the compressor is supported by springs. There are three notches that the springs can be hung on. My compressor is not loud, but it has a slight clinking sound. Question - should I try...

    1954 KENMORE STOVE/OVEN 220v - just North of LA

GIBSON! Not that it makes any difference now, but I think it is a Gibson made Kenmore. I say this due to the push - button burner switches with seven speeds. That's what my Gibson uses - simmer, very low, low, medium low, medium, medium high, and high. Wow! The switches ARE made by General...

    My 1949 Westinghouse refrigerator,

The other day I was defrosting the fridge. I finished and started to go to bed. I happened to check the seal in a few spots. I noticed the light was still on. I opened the door and checked the switch. It worked fine. Seven years ago I put on a new door seal. I adjusted the door at the...

I need some TV advice, please help.

Personally, I think you made a wise move getting another set. Unfortunately, electronics are mostly "throw away" now, even back in 2000. If the extended warranty was not too expensive, it was a great move. Good luck and ... ENJOY!!

    KDS-14 soap dispenser

Thank you! Thanks for the reply. I thought it might be a problem with the design. I don't have the right solenoid for this dispenser. I am trying to use one of the "T" type solenoids. The size makes it so it doesn't have enough throw down to keep the soap door open. Do you know a part...

    KDS-14 soap dispenser

My soap dispenser leaks at the rod for the soap door. With the front panel off, you can see a little drip coming out where the rod goes into the plastic (on the solenoid side). Is this normal?

    Fab powdered laundry soap

I love FAB! I've been using the Phoenix FAB for some time. It does a wonderful job. On cold water washes, there is a tiny bit of leftover detergent in the filter on my '60 Kenmore, but I have not found any residue on the clothes. Seems to be a great product at a wonderful price!

    Bedsheets. For all you sindonologists

I LOVE SHEETS!! When I was first on my own, I had one set of sheets that I used for several years. Then I got hooked on sheets. Currently I have eight sets of sheets in rotation. All are Martha Stewart Everyday sheets from K-mart. Some are all cotton, others are cotton/polyester blend...

    Refrigerator door help please.......

1949 Westinghouse I needed the door seal replaced. So, I called the local "expert" in Tacoma that I had been buying parts from for years. I took a sample of the seal in and he ordered it. When it came in , he came over and said, "Well it's not the right seal, but I think I can make it work...

    Disgusting! It's starting again.

Maybe I should start refering to the Democrats as "Dummy-craps". Or non-Christians as "Heathans" or whatever. Name calling is name calling and is NOT appropriate. Other than the example above, I do NOT call people names. I RESPECT other peoples opinions. Why can't we converse without the...

    Disgusting! It's starting again.

Well in just a few days back, we have the b.s. of name calling, grouping people by religion and politics, and so on and so on. Nice way to ruin the AW.ORG site!!!!!1 The past few months have been so very, very nice! Remember, name calling is NOT APPROPRIATE for children, and is NOT...

    Agitators for sale

The wringer Roto-Swirl will not fit and automatic. I have compared them side by side. The only problem with the swirls coming up to the top on the wringer model is that it creates lots and lots of suds! You really need to use a low sudsing detergent with these.
