Other products that are not as good as they once were!

True about Zest,Procter/Gamble sold the brand. It was a synthetic detergent bar with some soap in it and chelating agent to prevent hardwater film. At one time, it had triclosan,an antibacterial in it. Now it is just a scum-forming soap bar!

Other products that are not as good as they once were!

From Better unto Worse Hoover,Electrolux,Eureka vacs are NOT what they were with few model exceptions. Front loading washers will soon have features like "Dripmatic technology washes your clothes with an eyedropper's worth of water, saving you 95% energy costs over previous models." All brands...

Machines of Grand Repute, Volume I: The GE Potscrubber Twenty Eight Hundred

Did The Power Tower Really Scour? So Nate, HAVE you ever put a pot on the bottom rack with a glass right above it?If so, did the tower work to spray the inside of that glass and get it clean?

Machines of Grand Repute, Volume I: The GE Potscrubber Twenty Eight Hundred

Nate you're great! Love it, your descriptions crack me up and your observations fascinate me. The multi orbit elliptical pattern of the wash arm, I would say, helps the tower,by ever changing course, to reach further to the items in the top rack. A true test would be to put a large pot on the...

Keep the '96 DD or Go for a new SQ TL?

Get the Speed Queen! The Kenmore is a good solid machine, but the SQ is really much more gentle on the clothing and does not need a DA agitator due to its 210 degree action and its Surgilatorish design. It is quieter, the warranty is great,it IS the BEST TL today,as close to the old Maytags as...

Machines of Ill Repute, Volume III - The Norris Industries Thermador/Waste King

Fun review as usual Nate! Actually, believe it or not, WK dishwashers in around 1975 held the TOP position in severe washing tests by CU, followed by Maytags WU-601 and WU-401. This was likely an accurate test. Waste King at that time had the raised goat's eye oblonged out jets as you'd call...

Machines of Ill Repute, Volume I - The later D&M Kenmore

Nate, I L-O-V-E your reviews and writing style! You are a hoot! And you've answered that age old question I've had (well, really, 2 decade old question)about whether or not that honkin' "soil separator" really worked. BTW,what is the large hole resting atop of that thang? An olive pit port or what?

Super Cute 60's Hotpoint Dishwasher on eBay in Metro LA

The KDS-14 almost has a wash only. The Utilty-Utensil cycle is the same as regular but with only a 5 minute dry, just long enough to dry off excess moisture from pots and pans but not long enough to bake on any unremoved soils which can then, according to the literature,be wiped away with a...

    Portable Air Purifiers

The Oreck's process does produce a small amount of Ozone but the newer ones have a "catalytic converter" of sorts to neutralize that ozone before the air is expelled. Also ,there is a activated charcoal "filter" which should be replaced anually that absorbs formaldehyde, benzene and other toxic...
