When I travelled around Australia, particularly WA (Geraldton, Broome, Carnarvon -places like that) I saw a lot of washer outdoors on balconies and in carports etc. I reckon it's a good idea if you have the right climate - I would do it myself under the right circumstances.
I have just come back from Portugal and the house has this machine in it. Uses a decent amount of water I thought, much more than my machine, which is much older than this Indesit! My only gripe was the length of the programmes (i used number 4 and it seemed to take AGES but that might have...
Am on my second box of dishwasher tabs and have absolutely no complaints whatsoever - as far as my experience goes, it is as good as any of the premium brands and much better VFM. I have used the washing up liquid and was equally impressed with it. I rarely use premium brand washing up liquids...
@liberator deluxe - I went through a phase of using soap flakes when I had a twin tub simply because the rinsing was so much easier. The downside of easy rinsing was that you needed to use higher temperature wash water, do more pretreating and longer wash times. The water was not particularly...
Interesting
...that this subject should appear because I was thinking about this only this morning. When I was a young child my Mum had a Philips Top Twin Deluxe twin tub and she ALWAYS rinsed in the spin can. Those machines had a facility on them whereby the spin pump could run even if the...
Hi Rob
I have the Bosch Private Collection toaster and kettle in white and silver/grey. I got the toaster for a bargain price of £9 in House of Frazer and the kettle from Amazon. I had brushed stainless steel ones for years but they get so grubby and greasy and it is such a pain to clean them
I had a Hotpoint TL for 5 years with exactly this arrangement and I was VERY sceptical at first having had a Servis TL with 3 baffles. I have to say the cleaning performance was excellent, although it was not possible to see wat the turnover was like, you could 'hear' it. My experience was that...
This was the very first automatic washer I ever encountered and I remember it to this day - I don't think I really knew what it was but having never seen one I went straight up to it at a neighbours house and started fiddling with the dials, only to be shouted at by my mother for interfering...
I have a lot of table linen; white and coloured. As for the white, it gets washed with kitchen whites, coloured get washed with other clothing. I never ever mix underwear with anything. It gets washed in a load on its own.
My kitchen used to be strewn with applicances but since I had it rebuilt, I have gone very minimal:
Kenwood Chef
Bosch Kettle
Bosch Toaster
Braun Coffee Maker
That's it
Inside the cupboards is a different story!
Why does the woman in the report even bother putting them in the dishwasher if she is washing them with detergent and scrubbing beforehand and then moaning that she is always doing dishes?!?!?! I have NEVER rinsed. Scrape yes but rinse, never. And I never will. Waste of time and water.
Ummmm......
.........dress shirts (minimum 5 a week but this week 10 as have been in a show at the theatre, linen table napkins, tee-shirts, hankerchiefs, tea towels, duvet covers pillowcases......................am I MAD????????
I love this model. As a very young child, the woman who lived opposite us had one. I remember going to her house with my Mum and she was doing laundry - two things stick in my mind; the noise, which was scarily loud and the smell of the washing powder - Co-op Blue....................memories
What the eye doesn't see................
...............I have just changed from an h-axis machine to a front loader after 13 years. Naturally, I am constantly watching the action through the door having not had that luxury for so many years and I am dosing detergent and softener exactly as I...
I totally agree. I gave up on so-called softening powders a long time ago because in my opinion, they simply do not work in the way that a seperate softener does. I used to LOVE the fragrance of Bold 3, which has long since been ruined by 'improvements' to the fragrance. I used to use one of...
When I had a twin tub I used to use soap flakes. It has its pros in so far as they rinse out very easily and leave the clothes feeling and smelling really lovely. However, I found stain removal poor and and needed to do a lot or pre-treating as well as using much higher temperatures than I would...
These must be as rare as hens teeth. My mum had an Adamatic twin tub in the early 1960's - it had a big lever on the front I remember - have never seen one since I was a kid.
