99p Hoovermatic twin tub

I saw this twin tub on ebay and although i have one exactly the same i put a bid on it.
Amazingly i won the auction at 99 pence! The machine was in York , only 25 minutes drive from me so no big delivery costs either.
I took the back off it and amazingly it all seemed in very good condition, no rust , no corrosion and all the rubber pipes still pretty supple.
After a good dose of WD40 everything moved easily by hand and so i poured a kettle full of boiling water into the wash tub , no leaks , so far so good.
Unfortunately not so good with the spinner, the water poured out faster than it went in.
The large rubber seal on the bottom of the spin can is totaly corroded so my question is
A. what is this part actually called , i cant order one as i dont know what it is and of course not sure if such a part would still exsist.
and
B. has anyone out there changed one of these? is it difficult? should i bother?

What a bargain well done, i think the spin can rubber seal are called "bellows"

Great grab..and only at 0.99, bargin !!!
The large rubber mount at the bottom of the spinner can is the resilient bearing, i think this is the most problematic area of any Hoovermatic. This is the issue with the most recent H/matic i collected, 3309L..I got a new base bearing which i tried to put in but have busted the base of the spin can trying to get the old one out. I am now going to swap the whole spin unit on my 3301L to the 3309L.
I have got a 3174 which i changed the mount in, however the machine had been not used for about 20 odd years and the mount just eased out as it had got soo dry and i pushed a new one in. The bearing for these machines are quite difficult to get hold of now.
Hope you manage to sort some out with it.

I love this model. As a very young child, the woman who lived opposite us had one. I remember going to her house with my Mum and she was doing laundry - two things stick in my mind; the noise, which was scarily loud and the smell of the washing powder - Co-op Blue....................memories

Although I appreciate that you would prefer to have it working at the very least you can save it for spares.

Now then young man, there is a good thread currently running on here about wringer washers, and I keep looking to see some of yours on there - especially that Ada! So, get weaving with the camera!

Well done Lance, and what a bargain, the part you require is NLA although some do pop up on ebay now and again, and the australian seller did have some....its called the resilient mount and is basically the bottome seal for the spinner (large seal) which the conrod for the spin tub passes through also houseing a bearing!!

Its usually the middle rubber that spilts, unless its corroded the bottom of the outer spin can, turn it upside down, and check for any tears, have seen many fixed with loads of sealant, the trouble starts when the aluminium outer can is corroded with the powder etc..Heres the part...

Thanks Mike for the detailed photos, i have turned the machine upside down and i think that with some very good liquid rubber i might just get a water tight seal.
If not at least as Al said , its there for spares.
Nice thing about this machine is the work top which came with it is the ribbed metal version instead of the later formica one and i would have happily paid 99p just for that!
