Well, that would explain why I thought the dryer appeared to have a door and handle much like the Westinghouse dryers of the same vintage.

Unusual washer, at least here in the USA. It looks as though it evolved from a solid tub Hotpoint or Easy machine. I thought these interesting machines, but have never seen one.

But you have to remember that in 1974 Hotpoint was still making their own washers. The solid tub machines with the spiral agitator and filter/pump built into the agitator. That was what JCPenny sold for many years under the Penncrest name.

Which is why I have a nice big front load washer that will wash a king size feather comforter with ease, just wish the matching dryer reverse tumbled. Neither F & P or Frigidaire would come close.

The Frigidaire reverse dryer is a joke and the F & P one pretty much is too. They also are both small capacity. I was talking about a real dryer that will hold something and dry it.

Thank you, that is good to know. I wonder why it is that there are not more of them? It would seem to me that it really wouldn't take that much more to have a reversing motor, even if it has to be a separate motor from the blower. It would certainly eliminate all the balling up of large items.

So what's the bottom line on buying a dryer in the USA that actually reverses rotation equally from one direction to the other? Is there such a creature? It would make sense, since all front loader washers reverse now.

A nice fairly TOL re badged GE washer and dryer for Canadians I take it.

You are right about that! Price does make a difference. I'm sure Bosch is a good appliance. I have had one dishwasher by Bosch and it did a really good job.

I have never personally seen one of these machines. The appearance of the cleaning tube looks to be kind of like Frigidaire with the spray tube. This model looks like a wide one, sort of like the GE machines they made some of back in the 50's. I'm sure John L. could probably enlighten us about...

I vote for the Grundig and then you can report to all about your experiences with it. (Actually I have never even heard of a Grundig washer/dryer) I have know people who were very unhappy with their Bosch washer and dryer. After looking at the links on here, Grundig looks like really premium...

The first versions of this Kelvinator washer were in the late 60's and were a different version than that of the the ones made later on in the mid to late 70's on. The first machines had an enormous tub of porcelain enamel, much bigger than the later ones and the suspension system was different...
