    I Got Tag'ed This Weekend...

Tim ... that's a BEAUTIFUL machine. Boy, I'd say you got "tagged" this weekend. What a find!! Can't wait to see you operate it with a load. Definite late 1950's styling and dependability. Way to go; CONGRATS again!!

    Dreams of the Washer King

Lacquer Thinner ... Hey Kevin ... WONDERFUL find, there!! Try lacquer thinner first; just don't get any on the buttons or dial. It should work beautifully on the porcelain. Don't apply too much pressure; just enough to get off the paint. You can then use the white rubbing compound #5...

    Maytag bleach dispenser emptying

That load was unbalanced; it was the load from the NX! I wanted Ben and Mark to listen to my automatic (1964 A700S); it is louder than other machines I've heard. Well ... we discovered there are no motor glides on it! Good grief; it sat in a woman's basement for 45 years never used without...

    Blue Bell washin'

Well ... we sure had fun with that little NX! Mark was the "driver" and Ben and I just watched him do the work. Discovered that loading it up with sheets was futile; but gave a good argument for an agitator with a post. Actually, the water action when the tub is empty is quite dramatic. We...

    Maytag N2LS wringer washer

Very good, Brad; you get an A++!!!! :-)

    1948 Maytag E2L

Mark ... WONDERFUL! That sure is a beauty!! Such good condition, too. CONGRATULATIONS and many happy washings!! BTW ... that is a weird design flaw with the wringer head. I tried it out on mine; it does the same thing. For some reason or another, Maytag didn't want Mrs. Homemaker to...

1950s Pink Maytag Washer and Dryer

Stunning; absolutely stunning. Do you have photos of the interior? That looks like an AMP lid; one of the last, I would guess. This must be the suds saver model, huh?

    Geoff and Bluebell

Tim ... I would guess so. Probably when purchased. You could upgrade the agitator, I'm sure, for an additional amount (probably $10). You're right; they originally came with the low post agitator and I just happen to have a brand new black one!! I am guessing there was a turquoise no post...

    Geoff and Bluebell

Great fun!! That has to be the best Sangria I have ever tasted; just what we needed! :-) Blue Bell is sweet; I'll do photos of her sometime soon. She is polishing up quite well and believe it or not, outside of the obligatory oil drips for transporting her face down, she has no apparent...

Old Laundry from my home town

I've always wanted to see one of these; thank you Charles. Look at the big hoses above the machines and tubs! Wonder how they charged for those? By the tubful?

I thought May was Maytag month

Those nasty "O" rings. YES ... we MUST admit, Ben; it was "Donnie" who truly had beginner's luck that day!! I do believe that not only did he remove the stuck one, he installed the BRAND NEW ONE. That is NOT an easy feat to do; just ask anyone who has put one of those buggers in. LOTS of...

Installing Stop Ring on NX Wringer Maytag

Hi Bill ... I didn't even notice the groove/grove thing; I read groove. :-) Yes ... the Vaseline will make it too slick; I've made that mistake in the past. Also, if you can't get the old one off, just use an Exacto knife or something like it to cut it off. Did you post pictures of your...

Installing Stop Ring on NX Wringer Maytag

Bill ... yes the stop ring needs to fit inside the "groove" at the bottom of the agitator shaft. No ... don't use Vaseline; it will be too hard to handle. Just wet the stop ring with some water. It will stretch better and you can work it down the agitator shaft. Make sure, however, you...

    cannot lower wringer

Hi Mike ... glad we could help! Did you know you really "should" lock the rolls apart in between wash days? When done washing and machine is clean and unplugged, press the release bar and lift up on the cap a inch or two then turn the reset lever a quarter turn clockwise and the upper cap...

    cannot lower wringer

Hey, Drew ... I've got another fun Maytag wringer to add ... it's a rare one and needs some work. It's been in the garage all winter; time to get started on it. Pictures to come!!! Our winter here was super long and very snowy. I just couldn't work in the freezing cold garage and didn't...

    cannot lower wringer

Hi Kelly ... there MUST be some project in my garage that needs some photos so we can have some gyrafoam action going; I'll take a look and let you know!! :-) I know Drew has been after me for sometime for shots of the "red harem"; I might have to oblige at some point.

    cannot lower wringer

Are they in the "locked-up" position? If so, press the release bar and hold in with one hand and turn the reset bar on top counter-clockwise with the other hand. That drops the cap in place. Then, turn the reset bar clockwise; that should lock them in place. Good luck.

    Blackstone Gyroscope

Fred ... WOW ... what a great toy!  Looks like a lot of fun to play with!  LOVE the rocket ship diagram; very "space age", indeed.    That is a great collectible and with the original box, no less!

Maytag wringer washer agitator stuck on the post

The Agi-tamer works really well for stuck agitators on both conventional and automatic machines!    Looks like it's still being produced; here's their website.   Maybe the local Maytag dealer might have one you can use?   Watch out ... those agitators really pop out of the machines...
