Well look at this happy couple! Geoff came down on Sunday for a hobo dinner on the grill followed by smores for dessert to toast the end of summer. Before dinner we went and picked up his new honey. She is in great shape and runs like a champ! Geoff figured out it was made 45 years ago this month. So happy we had to celebrate with Sangria. Congrats on this amazing find Geoff, of all people you should have this!

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

What I wouldn't give to have this little beauty at my place. I have never seen one in person. I use my E2L Rhea as a daily driver. Do enjoy her for years to come. I am very envious !!!!

Great fun!! That has to be the best Sangria I have ever tasted; just what we needed! :-)

Blue Bell is sweet; I'll do photos of her sometime soon. She is polishing up quite well and believe it or not, outside of the obligatory oil drips for transporting her face down, she has no apparent leaks; I was so surprised. The blue tub polishes beautifully and she has normal blemishes. This machine was made in September 1966; 45 years ago this month ... what a treat! I have a black

Thanks to Don for going with me to pick her up; could not have done this without you!!

We've missed you this summer, Benny-Boy!!!

This was a Craigslist find for $35; can you believe it?? :-) I would have made the trip for the hobo dinner, smores (to die for, btw), Sangria and MOST of all, Don's company!

Did this machine have a regular agitator installed later in life?  IIRC these came with a low profile agitator originally.

Very pretty, Geoff!! You'll have fun with this, I've always been curious about the balloon wringer rolls. Don told me they really weren't much different than the solid rolls in performance, that's surprising. Quite a bargain when new at $99.95 and even better now at $35. Congrats, I can't wait to see your collection sometime soon.

Tim ... I would guess so. Probably when purchased. You could upgrade the agitator, I'm sure, for an additional amount (probably $10). You're right; they originally came with the low post agitator and I just happen to have a brand new black one!! I am guessing there was a turquoise no post agitator; it seems like I've seen a photo of one on this website before! Those low post agitators don't really wash well. When Maytag invented the agitator in 1922, they only had no post agitators; can't remember what date they created the post agitator; sometime shortly after 1922.

Greg ... $35 was too good to pass up; the guy was a real gentleman. He knew he had a bit of a collectible but wasn't obnoxious about it. Of all things, he was using this machine and a BEAUTIFUL E (which I really wanted, too, but it was sold to a woman who wanted it to clean cucumbers for pickles ... for Pete's sake) for his supply of bird feed holders; he would put 50 lbs at a time in the machine and stored it in the garage!! Well ... at least the bird feed didn't damage the tubs and the machines were garaged.

$99.95 was the amount; that's right. PLUS a trade-in. Not sure what they did if you didn't have a trade.

The balloon rollers work well on flat items like towels, sheets, t-shirts, etc. I washed blue jeans in it on Sunday and the seams of the jeans were pretty wet, so was the hip area. Blue jeans are usually pretty wet but this was a little wetter than normal. The balloon rollers tend to "give" to the fabric; less wrinkly, too!

I think you're right, Tim. Maybe it was an upgrade to get an agitator with a post. ?? ...or maybe the post-1966 ones came with a standard agitator rather than the impeller style...??

Wow, Geoff! You have quite the looker there. Congratulations! So now you have the white harem, red harem and now the blue harem. We require a picture with them all together now... LOL!

Cool speckled Maytag.  They were the machine of choice for Mississippi tugboat crews.  Years ago the Lady at the Maytag store told my aunt, "you would be surprised how many of those we sell".  alr
