Just found a post on Reddit about a Whirlpool washer EXPLODING

I mean I see much less Whirlpools exploding than any other major brand. Explosions of whirlpool washers most commonly occurred with the older Cabrio design, The new GE’s are exploding like recalled Samsungs. Also they said the model was WTW4800XQ4, that particular model is very prone to...

    VMW curb grab

Make sure to manually spin the drum and check the suspension rods on it. That’s what you need to do with VMWs.

Amana NTW4516FW washer has officially been discontinued???

I thought Speed Queen always used stainless drums

Amana NTW4516FW washer has officially been discontinued???

In general, wash tubs are pretty durable regardless of the material. It’s usually the splines or the bottom of the tub that fails. The porcelain coated tubs were the most problematic but they did hold up, they just sometimes rusted over time.

Amana NTW4516FW washer has officially been discontinued???

But Whirlpool still makes the porcelain tubs for these but I think some of the older stainless ones were discontinued. I personally like the stainless and even plastic drums over the porcelain coat ones since they held up better over time and didn’t rust, although no drum material is really...

Amana NTW4516FW washer has officially been discontinued???

It seems like this model has finally been discontinued by Whirlpool, as the Amana website has it indefinitely out of stock as it was out of stock for a while. How do you feel about this? I believe the NTW4519JW is still active. Other sellers of the item will probably not have it restocked once...

Do I fix my washing machine?

Probably more like suspension rods if it was bearings it’d be sounding like a jet like my VMW from the same time, although mine is the washplate version (WTW4900BW0). Mine isn’t banging it’s just really loud definitely bearing sound. Not same model. Probably needs new shocks which is why it’s...

Should I repair my washing machine or not?

I own a Whirlpool washer from 2014, and its bearings are now loud on the spin cycle. Mine is a washplate model while yours has an agitator but it’s still a VMW. Had no other issues with mine. Mine was made back when they still made VMW Cabrios and the F&P type Cabrios. My sister had a...

Samsung Top Loader Very Loud during Spin Cycle

I’ve heard reports of Samsungs exploding and banging but I’ve never seen a top loading Samsung with noisy bearings. That’s a new one. Usually when I see something that says “Samsung washer sounds like a jet engine” it’s a front loader.

My brother’s Whirlpool washer is bouncing AGAIN!

The dancing washer is back at it again! He replaced all four rods about a year ago and he says it has already started to shake again. I asked where did he get the rods and he said Amazon. Model WTW4800XQ4 for his machine. The bearing also seems noisy on this thing but he says it is shaking a...

What is the most reliable top load washing machine in 2025 (besides Speed Queen)?

Honestly the VMAX machines aren’t much worse than the VMWs, although they do seem more prone to bearing issues, but they are less prone to suspension rod issues and control board issues (at least the older VMAX machines). Both VMWs and VMAXs have their issues. Usually if the bearings are good...

REPOST - When did GE start to go bad?

I’m only making this post again because the original thread was deleted for no reason. I think GE started to go bad in the 1990s when the Model-Ts came out, and then they introduced an even worse system in 2006 which was the HydroWave. Honestly, the newer GE’s seem better than the HydroWaves...

Should I repair my washing machine or not?

Yeah the direct drives are much better but the VMWs still are better than the older GE machines as well as the Samsungs and the Midea machines. I would NOT recommend the newest revisions of the VMW models, if you’re getting a VMW, you’re better off getting an older one used in like-new...

Should I repair my washing machine or not?

The user mentioned that this is the WTW4816FW0 model which means it’s a 2016, in later 2016 they revised it to WTW4816FW1 meaning ti can’t be older or newer than 2016. This model is still made today but the current revision (the WTW4816FW3) has major control board problems and wouldn’t...

The Maytag Neptune TL: The Washer that Caused Maytag’s Death

The GE Model-Ts commonly had the bearing in the transmission fail and oil leakage. GE’s also had a major seal issue where water leaks in the bottom destroying the transmission bearing. Many older GE’s with bad bearings also have leaky seals. The HydroWaves didn’t have oil leakage but bearing...

The Maytag Neptune TL: The Washer that Caused Maytag’s Death

The Norgetags were much better, but they were still a far cry from the dependable cares and the Whirlpool-built Maytag direct drives, and still had the notorious bearing and seal failure. And many of those last about 6-15 years, vs only like 3-7 years out of a Amanatag. Even the Amanatags were...

The Maytag Neptune TL: The Washer that Caused Maytag’s Death

The Norgetags and Amanatags were pretty bad too and the bearings often failed early. Also, the pumps on those often had issues as well as the transmissions. Not as bad as the top loading Neptune but still pretty bad. Whirlpool has significantly improved Maytag when it was first bought but once...

Maytag Atlantis Out of Balance Spin

I’m guessing the balance ring or the bottom suspension springs are bad

The Maytag Neptune TL: The Washer that Caused Maytag’s Death

Today, I’m going to be discussing one of the worst washers ever, the top loading Neptune. Extremely rare to find one working these days because most broke down years ago. It had so many mechanical problems and it was notorious for tying clothes into knots. Common failures included the motor...

    Maytag Neptune TL FAV9800AWW

Honestly, whirlpool didn’t completely destroy the brand. If whirlpool didn’t acquire Maytag, the brand just outright wouldn’t be around anymore. And the latest real Maytag stuff was awful. The top loading Neptunes were the worst ones. They had so many control board issues and the transmissions...
