    Unbalanced problem on Zanussi

It does seem the newer machines have trouble with balancing. I guess with the faster speeds and biger loads it is important that the load is balanced otherwise excessive vibration could lead to wear and tear and a shorter working life. There was a thread a while ago where a Whirlpool Bravo TL...

Is it me or are top load washing machines really bad a washing?

Thanks guys, yes, a very interesting debate, horizontal V vertical axis. I like both options and I like to have both front and top load machines, they both have their advantages and disadvantages. An interesting concept that there maybe some psychological issues going on in my laundry room and...

    wilkins service single tub washer

I surprised myself, fixed the washer in less than a day. Stripped down the pump which was totally jammed, soaked in WD40 and reassembled, replaced perished hoses and it works perfectly well. I was sure the pump would leak but not a drop. This is a really basic machine, no timer just manual...

Is it me or are top load washing machines really bad a washing?

I love TL washers and have 6 of varying ages and makes. Besides my Fisher & Paykel intuitive and smart drive, the others just don't wash or rinse well. Stuff comes out with soap scum marks, lint and not that clean. My Zanussi IZ front load washer which is getting on for 15 years old produces...

    wilkins service single tub washer

Hi Guys, just picked up this old Wilkins Service single tub washer from West Sydney for $5. looks in pretty good shape from the outside but the pump has ceased up. Also some of the rubber hoses are pretty brittle too. On the hunt to see if I can get a new pump, fingers crossed a spares shop may...

GE filter Flo up and running

Yup, I looked at that, it is a switch or lever that moves up and down as the timer knob is turned. I got very excited when I saw it but not a speed shift. Good try though and glad I worked out how to remove the timer. I am certainly learning heaps about the workings of this old washer.

    Hello, New member here =)

For the love of washing machines Hi Michael, I can so relate to what you are saying. From my earliest memory I loved washing machines and vacuum cleaners and dishwashers. My mum was quite concerned about my fascination with domestic appliances. I thought I was the only one who was so in to...

GE filter Flo up and running

I have a 240 volt to 110 volt transformer, two in fact that are designed to plug appliances from USA in to UK or Australian power supply. The rest of the machine is designed to run on 240 volts, I don't think it would work very well on 110 volts. I also have a Maytag Atlantis washer and dryer...

GE filter Flo up and running

That is great, thank you so much for helping me out, really appreciate it. I guess you could send regular parcel post and I could pay you via paypal? Would that work? Alternatively, I could send cash via mail in $US. Not sure how else to do it. Not usre if there are any postal services where...

GE filter Flo up and running

Thanks so much for trying, really appreciate your help. What I understand of electricity I could write down on a stamp. I am much more mechanically minded but great to hear your explanations. Got the new filter tray going again in the washer this morning.

GE filter Flo up and running

Hi cfz2882, Do you think a 60 hz would work on my machine? I would rather the timer were a little too slow than running at double speed. If it would work would it be possible to buy one from you? I would be most grateful. Look forward to hearing back from you. Cheers Simon

GE filter Flo up and running

Hi John, Many thanks for your reply. Very interesting information. So the GE Filta Flo washers from the 80s don't have a two speed timer, figures as there seems to be no mechanism for switching between the two speeds. I will check out to see if there is any more info on the timer motor. It...
