Did you flush out the water hose? If not I'll bet the valve is plugged again. It's normal for the valve to get warm. Wires doesn't matter witch goes where.

I had this set in the late 70s. Banging solonoids would make you jump. Very good machine. However it would tie a large load of shirts into a very tight ball. Dryer was very fast. No trouble for the 10 years I owned them.
