    Washing temperature and saving money...

I use hotter temperatures But after reading this post it seems that this, for the main part, is unecessary. Until now I wash whites, bedding and towels and 95 or 60 and colours at 40 or 60 but I'm going to stop. I'm going to start washing everything at 40, since no one in my family has problems...

Introducing the HOTPOINT 95620 Electronic De Luxe L.E

the 95620 Is my favourtie Hotpoint of all, therefore one of my fav machines. (only second to Hoover electrons) So pleased to see one being restored. Two cool machines in one go. I'm so jealous! My next door neighbour had the 93580 dryer in their garage. It lasted years!

    Changed my mind!

If I were to choose a modern machine now I'd personally Electrolux build quality but with the simplicity of machines of old, I think that makes for good reliability and a longer machine life than most we see today. They're pretty cheap too! Ofcourse if I had the money I'd go for a Miele but...

Does anyone know anything about Trimphones?

That website just confuses me firstly, the phone has 4 wires, the "bell" wire, the earth and the A and B wires, as stated in the website above. The cable I am using is actually a modem extension cable with the modem end cut off and wired into the phone. This has strange coloured wires though...

    My 1992 Hoover Ecologic Washer/Dryer 1000

the model number... is A8596. I've also always been curious about it. I can only just remember ecologics being on sale and I was 3 when this machine was bought. I can't remember which shop it came from either. If anyone has any info on, or brochures of the logic and ecologic range I'd love to...

Does anyone know anything about Trimphones?

Last weekend I was rummaging round in my Grandad's loft and found a beautiful 1970's avacado green trimphone. It had the old GPO connector which had to be hardwired. I opened it up and replaced this with a modern plug and socket cable, with the help of wiring instructions I found on the...

    Sainsbury's Novon Detergent

Did anyone on here used to use this? I remeber when I was younger my mother and many other people I knew used to use it. It seemed pretty popular. When did they stop making it? I havnt seen it around for quite a while now. I have fond memories of my mothers Indesit filling quarter of the way up...

    My 1992 Hoover Ecologic Washer/Dryer 1000

Ah yes it does have the turquiose paddles but the drum in mine has less holes I think. Not that it makes much difference. As for water usage I know the Ecologics were meant to use less but this one seems to have the same programming and water levels as the old electrons, which used 134 litres...

    My 1992 Hoover Ecologic Washer/Dryer 1000

econ wash Econony wash simply reduces the temperature of the Whites programme (B) from 85degrees to 60. It dosent work on any other programme. It seems pretty pointless to me as there is already a Whites economy programme (C) which is just programme B with a 60degrees temperature. Programme D...

    My 1992 Hoover Ecologic Washer/Dryer 1000

And finally... The rinse water level. Much higher than on most modern machines. This machine fills up to this level at the end of the wash and for all 4 of the rinses. It distributes between wash and the 1st and 2nd rinses, then there is a short (400rpm?) spin followed by 2 further rinses with...

    My 1992 Hoover Ecologic Washer/Dryer 1000

Well I finally got round to taking pictures of it and here they are. This machine was manufactured in December 1992 in Britain and has been owned by us since new. It has never needed a single repair and still works like they day it was bought. I believe it cost around £300 and I think it is a...

    A Line on Saving Energy

I couldnt agree more Chris I can forgive people in colder climates owning dryers but they should only be used when things are needed in a hurry or weather is too bad and there's not enough room to hang everything around in the house. At most a compact (3kg load) dryer should be sufficient. I...

    A Line on Saving Energy

I never tumble dry I have a washer/dryer and a tumble dryer and havent used either for drying in years. I line dry when it's not raining and use the indoor clothes airer when it is. I don't hang things on radiators (makes them stiff and can cause damp in the walls) and neither of my machines...
