This thread is bordering on paranoia...... It wasn't your address that was publicly available. Robert's "Unimatic1140 (Minneapolis)" means nothing - census says there are 373,188 people in MPLS (as of 2000) - which "1" is Robert? I dare all of you to publicly post your home addresses here if...

    Disposable razors

disposables Refuse to use them. Multiple blades are nice, but I've pretty much regressed to using single-blade injector and then use it for months at a time. MikeS want to have a contest on cheap? I used to buy the double-blades when they were on sale for $.50 or less. Once the price went over...

Not being a chemist but what if you tried adding the lye to some sort of oil mixture? One would think it would stick better, but would the chemistry not work? (An) inquiring mind(s) want to know. (Especially when we are not the guinea pigs...)

    Return of Copper-tone?

With time we learn. Just struck me now - as if it makes any difference. Something about Mork and Mindy - you are born old and pro(re)gress to an infant? If only we knew what we should know when we should know it.

I didn't buy the macrame. It was made with love for me. A lost love I regret to this day.

    Return of Copper-tone?

I agree. I look at houses with beams and knick-knacks 8 feet above the floor and say - who's going to dust that? But don't you say anything bad about my macrame... One of the most cherished, personalized things I own.

washertalk And you want to talk about stealing machines? I was there with my friend (who died from AIDS) and watched his tenants moving out of his rental property. I was uncomfortable spying on them so we left. When they left, they stole his appliances at the same time before they left the...

I should not have said "suspicious logins". That implies someone was actually able to login. While they record the IP address of logins, they also record attempted logins which occur when I type too fast and enter the wrong password.

washertalk yes, all of the above. My SOLE point is that it is not necessary to make IP addresses publicly available. There are so many ways to become "insecure", why NEEDLESSLY add one more? That's all I'm saying. Maybe we should all just post our social security numbers. What's the likelihood...

Brent I expect EVERY website I visit to record my IP address. The point is I do not expect a website to make it PUBLICLY available. (I have worked with computers for nearly 40 years. I know how they work. I have developed and programmed them, I have supported them, I have debugged them, I...

Or as another example I don't know, I haven't been curious enough to see if you have a static IP address or not and have no nefarious intentions, but even it if is dynamic, it is possible to tell what part of the country you are in from your posts. How would you feel if someone came in and...

Robert, Note I said: "I think it is valid for Robert to keep IP addresses to be able to associate them with individual posts - if he wants to - but:" This does not interfere with your well-intentioned/good intentions regarding the site and protecting it from "trouble". My issue is with...

    Green Bags

Commercial on TV is advertising Green Bags. They say they will keep produce fresh up to 30 days because the absorb ethylene (sp?) gas which is naturally generated by produce and contributes to spoilage. Anyone tried/investigated? Strawberries seem to "die" so fast. Maybe it is worth a try?

I agree with stainless being THE cleanable surface, but other than style (black, almond, whatever), white is white and if it's not, then it's dirty. Harder to hide dirt/grease in the cracks of a white appliance than any other.

    Return of Copper-tone?

Yes, have to keep those designers in business and shop, shop, shop. If we don't keep the pump primed, the whole thing will collapse. I've been thinking the same thing about being able to acquire newer appliances as they simply go out of style - though there is still the issue of...
