This little angel came to live with me. He totally changed my life.
Happy anniversary Jack, I never knew I could love anything as much as I love you!

Way back then...

we looked like this...
This is the first pic I took of Jack, with my webcam, September 2, 2002.

100% Love, 0% Attitude.

That's why I love dogs. Here are Ivan, Micha, and Nakita. These are the fifth, sixth, and seventh Samoyeds I've owned. Only Ivan and Micha remain, but they all have their place in my heart.

And they all help prep the dishes for the dishwasher.

America's Dairyland

Why does that picture look so much like Wisconsin? (I thought
that before I looked at the "location".) LOL

Whereas cats only THINK they're better than people.

I've never figured out the people who go on and on about how smart their cats are. After a long, hard day at work, after driving a half hour on the road full of jackasses, the last thing I need is a pet who thinks he can outsmart me.

Big, dumb, and happy to see me. That's all I want. And that's what dogs give me.

Happy anniversary, and many more to come. Give Jack an extra scritch behind each ear for me, and make sure some tasty beef fat is left over after dinner. It's the least you can do.

(As to 'looking like Wisconsin,' the #$%& walnut trees around here only seem to have leaves on them from june-september, and this picture was taken in April. Oh well, if you're going to have sub-arctic dogs, Wisconsin is nearly as good as Siberia.)

Happy Anniversary Jack and Hoover 1060

He's blessed with a loving friend, won't say owner. I love dogs, even though I am a died in the wool cat person. The love of my life had two wonderful dogs whom I loved dearly.

Cats are so similar to dogs though but the work they can do is different than dogs.
I just realized this summer that cats need to be loved and appreciated just like a dog.
And they earn their keep by keeping mice out of your house, barn, whatever. That is their job. When it seems like they are walking around your house judging it with the attitude of a prissy young gay New Yorker, they are really looking for mice and rodents so as to protect their owners. It's like anything else, if you appreciate them for what they do, they will love you back.
The cat I took care of this summer was always making runs, checking rooms, she didn't like doors to be closed because that kept her from doing her job. Sometimes I would get up and let her in a room, she would check it out and come out 5 minutes later after determining that I was safe. Considering that mice and rats can carry diseases and make a mess, cats are just awesome. They even clean themselves so people don't have to.
Dogs like to help us out too, but in a different way. Usually by being our hunting pal, our sled puller, our companion that can see for us, or a herder for other animals like sheep.
There is no doubt that both animals talents are under-utilized and in some circumstances misunderstood, in our "modern" world.

Heres my "angel" checking out a snake (magic marker) she spied suspiciously laying on the pillow in a suspicious way. Ready to pounce and catch a potential trouble maker. look at those ears focused for catching the slightist noise. It was so funny, I was fortunate I had the camera in hand at the moment. She even had to take her little paw and bat at it to make sure it didn't move.

Jeff your dog is so cute. Who couldn't love that face. that face, THAT FACE.

Kevin, with the 3rd horizonal rail removed from that section of deck it looks custom made for your fluffy animals just so they can poke their heads thru. They are beautiful.

My 50th birthday present

TomTiger came to me about the second week of December,'03. I remember the night, wish I had remembered the date. He ran my brown tabby off, but she moved next door with her sister. She died of unknown causes the following May 1.

Happy annniversary,

Jack and Jeff!

May you have many more.

Now, now, with the cat bashery.....

I love dogs, other peoples' dogs.

In an apartment, I just find it easier to live with a cat.

My two cats, LJ (no longer living), and Boris the Bold Russian Blue, have been devoted, loving company.
I have not been able to read by myself since they've been with me.

Here's to fur on the hoof!

Thanks for all the kind words

This is my favorite picture of me and Jack, taken this past May out front here.
Jack will always be my little boy...

The railings around the deck.

Erik,

Reality often works counter to perceptions.

Actually, the deck only had the top rail and two stringers when I bought the house. The stairway down to the sidewalk runs from off to the right of the picture down to below where the dogs are standing. I added a gate, and enough cross pieces to keep the dogs from jumping down and running away.

The openings were indeed left so that the dogs (and their people) would get the maximum open view.

This is the sort of greeting I get every day when I come home from work. It makes the whole ordeal worthwile, somehow.

Jeff & Jack

Congrats and here's to many more years! Jack is adorable and he looks like such a nice and fun dog to be with. He seems to have a smile on his face in the recent photo with you!

I love dogs as well, as long as they are yours! Just like kids, will sit, feed, love, and play with, but when I am done, Good Bye pet. Go home now.

Jeff and I are a bit different, No Pets in Our Home. I aint cleaning up after that. Forget it.

Steve

Awe, poor Steven, sounds like you have had some bad experiences.
That's too bad. But it is good to respect your limits.

Why did Jack's nose turn from dark to the color of his tongue? Did he lick his nose too much and rub the color off? Dogs are so wonderful. They are love sponges but give love back unconditionally. It is amazing to watch that show where they rescue animals from horrible conditions where people have done awful things to them, yet the dogs and cats are so loving to the people who give them a bit of attention, some food and water and whatever medical care they need.

I wish all pets and their people years and years of health and joy together.

Jack's nose

Was black as a puppy, sometime about his first birthday it started to turn pink, I remember noticing it, but it was gradual.
Michael often refers to Jack as "pinkness" or "Jackola"
The first time Michael's dad met Jack he said "Hello little pink nose!"
The black pigment just went away...
Here's one more pic tonight, taken about 4 days after I got him, on his first trip to my parents house.
