Looking for "new" used vehicle opinions again...

In Defense Of The ION Dustin, as an owner of three Saturns (a 2000 SL1, 2004 ION 2 and my current 2007 ION 3), I have to defend their quality. I've never had any major trouble with the first two cars, and I must disclose I recently had to replace the left wheel bearing on the '07 (along with...

What is everyone's favorite laundry detergent?

Costco Pods I have been using Costco's Kirkland Signature pods for over a year, and I've found nothing better. Whiter whites, brighter colors, great stain removal at half the price of Tide. What's not to like? (I do use All Free & Clear as my backup detergent for the dogs' blankets and other...

    Worst Laundry Detergent

I Agree With The Majority Sun & Xtra are barely detergents. When I moved in with my significant other, he was using Sun. I changed that quickly. Now it's Kirkland Signature pods for the major wash, and All Free & Clear Ultra for other loads. Couldn't be happier.

    Favorite bargain detergent

Two Is Better Than One When I moved in with my partner, he was using Sun detergent for everything. Horrors! I changed that quickly. After much trial and error, I have found the duo that works for me: Kirkland Signature (Costco) pods for the main wash, and All Free & Clear for everything...

    1970 Bold Detergent Commercial

Viv Loves Vim And since it would be criminal to ignore Salvo's main competitor, here's a cast ad for Vim laundry detergent on "The Lucy Show"! http://https//www.youtube.com/watch?v=m5j0nvTTlME

    1970 Bold Detergent Commercial

Bold Jo Anne Worley P&G's Bold commercials were probably some of the most entertaining detergent ads of the period--but here's a real show-stopper featuring a "Laugh-In" cast member. Sock it to me, Jo Anne Worley...! http://https//www.youtube.com/watch?v=UoOz5kNwqyc

    Family's first airconditioned car

'62 Chrysler Newport It had the vents on top of the dashboard, which really allowed the cool air to reach the back seat faster. That was great for long trips. Also, it had the coveted "Air Conditioned by Airtemp" label on the window. So did our '69 Newport, but I always loved the '62 with...

    Consumer Reports: Your Two Cents

My Two Cents Let me start by saying I have a personal bias toward "Consumer Reports": When I was 13 years old, I asked my parents for a subscription for my birthday. They granted my wish. I've been a loyal subscriber ever since. On the plus side, most of the products I have purchased by using...

    No contest on dishwashing pods

Detergent Recommendations GE is not the only dishwasher maker to recommend a specific detergent. My Bosch has stickers on the edge of the door recommending Finish. As it happens, I have used both Finish Powerball Tabs (regular and free and clear) and Cascade All-In-1. Both work just fine in...

Detergent Stash: Ushering In The New Era

Confessions Of A Pod Convert When pods came out, I didn't think I had any use for them. Liquids and powders were fine for me, and I still have vivid childhood memories of Salvo tablets not dissolving and finding broken Action bleach packets in the box. But I became a convert when I started...

    Bendix Refrigerator?

Bendix Fridge Ad 1952 Here's more proof Bendix made a refrigerator--which I suspect was similar to Crosley-badged models. This commercial was from 1952.... http://https//www.youtube.com/watch?v=e0G5nKrX2fE

    Dishwasher pacs

Another Vote For Powerball Tabs I agree with the praise for Finish Powerball Tabs. They clean great without leaving a haze on glasses, and when Costco has an instant rebate offer on the 100-plus tablet box, I snap one up. (By the way, my partner and I only run our Bosch dishwasher once every...

    Advice on a new disposer

ISE Evolution Compact When I owned a condo, I had a Badger disposal that was a piece of garbage; I replaced it with a similar one because I planned to move. When I moved in with my partner, his disposal was on the blink as well. We went shopping for a new model, and I chose the ISE Evolution...

Pick a Rocket to fit your Pocket !!!

1976 Chrysler New Yorker I had a '74 Dodge Monaco, but I love this Chrysler (formerly Imperial). Not to mention the commercial pitch. It truly was the talk of the town!

Quick Trip and a ride in a dream car!

62 Chrysler I have fond memories of our family's 1962 Chrysler Newport sedan. My parents bought it used in 1965 (they traded their '56 Chrysler Windsor wagon for it), and it served us very well. It was white with a blue cloth and vinyl interior, and had power steering, power brakes, air...

    For Frigilux

Sears Powder Vs Kirkland Pacs I like Sears powder (in the orange box), but I've forsaken it in favor of Kirkland Signature's all in one pacs. It does a great job (I use two for my white loads in the trusty Whirlpool, one for the colored things) and it's cheap. I'll keep a bottle of...

    Dishwasher Detergent Test

Finish Tablets After some experimenting, I found the Finish All in One tablets to work the best in our Bosch. It cleans very well without leaving the glasses in a foggy haze. I usually run the dishwasher every three days (on the Heavy Wash cycle), and everything comes out sparkling. Also, I...

All Detergent With Bleach, Borax & Brighteners!

Gay Men? Hey, I'm gay and I do the laundry in our household. I just tell my better half to toss his dirty undies and socks in the hamper, and I'll make sure they come out white and bright. Not that straight guys can't do laundry, but.... And hey, girls: Listen to Sheila!

This Has To Stop Now! Shrinking toilet paper

Costco! I also refuse to buy G-P products because of the Choke brothers. My solution comes from the good folks at Costco: Kirkland Signature toilet tissue. Soft, strong, plentiful on the roll--and best of all, cheap! Charmin is not used in our house because it clogs the toilets. Kirkland...
