OMG!!! that is one of the washers I grew up with right down to the color. We bought ours in 1974 and it lasted until 1987. It was one step down from the TOL, couldn't believe my father would go for the bells and whistles. Even so it was horribly loud.

Thanks! The model with the Nylon racks was about $90.00 more, but most importantly Lowes had a $125.00 rebate on this model. It is faily quiet; you hear mostly water sounds as opposed to motor sounds.

I Currently have an Affinity 6000 and love it, I make my own whitest whites cycle, heavy wash, extra rinse, stain clean, and the heavy dirt level (extra 2 min of wash time), and hot water. It makes for a 101 min wash. I never use chlorine beach just Oxyclean. I don't have the Sanitary cycle on mine.

I really don't know if durability is a question with Frigidaire, after all they have been selling FL's longer than any other company in the USA. Also, their European cousins are considered to be very good machines.

Saw a 3.5 cu ft front loader on the Amana website. List price is $599.00. This must be a Whirlpool right? I didn't think that they made a washer in that cu ft, the Duet sport is 3.7 cu ft. Anyone seen one of these; or used, or own one?
