A new boat for Old Davy

I've been thinking about this since my return in August to full function. thought about it a lot and waited until I was sure strength, health and stamina were stable. I got my first boat in 2006, a 14 ft bowrider gullwing-hull puddle jumper with a 55 hp Mercury 4 cylinder outboard hung on the...

    Streamline Modern to Mid Century

I like your chair set too, Alistair. Yup, that's a square dormeyer. Pete, it's the one in Stratford on forest rd beside the Subaru dealership. Google Stratford antique warehouse. If the chairs had been standard black, white or red i'd have passed. But turquoise!!!! And so soft & minty perfect...

    Streamline Modern to Mid Century

Been sorting through the 4 decades of accumulation in preparation for opening a 'dealer absent' booth at the local Antique Warehouse Flea Market. As I sift through it all I pause to fix stuff that ain't right. I have this habit of rescuing stuff for later use or because it's just plain...

    A few new toys

Aw, good for you, Sam. The last of the GM Big Wagons. Who needs a Cadillac when you can pilot a luxurious boat-a-licious land-yacht beast like this or the Chevy.

Older GE Countertop Electric Roaster help, please.

It is indeed a beautiful example of late 1930's Century of Progress industrial design and I must say, surprisingly lightweight for a large steel appliance. As much as I want to keep it in view I'll have to clear space on the 1939 sideboard's oak top rather than hide it in a bottom cupboard; not...

Older GE Countertop Electric Roaster help, please.

Hi Guys, from the frozen 'March in like a Lion' north. For my birthday present yesterday I pounced on a vintage white enamel GE Roaster, complete and in super cosmetic and operational condition at the local Flea Market on Sunday. I was told it was obtained from a lake cottage about an hour...

    Auto Maintance

I have habitually done all my own fluid changes. I use an independent mechanic for minor tweaks. I have caught my (and other) dealership doing slipshod work (or not at all) and missing bolts & washers...or 'forgetting' to put the bottom engine aero panel back on or missing fasteners. For major...

And What's GREAT About Today's Cars?

My 2006 Subaru Outback XT has ONE manual key lock, on the drivers door. No other keyhole on the 3 other doors or the tailgate, all electric. Key fob has lock/unlock/security toggles as well as keyless remote start. One press is driver door, two presses are all doors and three presses sets the...

Rockin the Blackberry Passport smartphone "phablet"

Makes no matter who owns what anymore. As long as BB continues providing the Class shattering hard & soft wares and my stock keeps rising I'm satisfied.

Rockin the Blackberry Passport smartphone "phablet"

yes, the Classic is out now alongside the Passport. A fine keyboard phone with the same OS slightly larger than it's predecessor. I decide to jump up the the generous square screen. Now I don;t have to squint reading text or enjoying Washerland to the max on the go.

Rockin the Blackberry Passport smartphone "phablet"

I did, I had to, no other way to go. Luv my Blackberries ever since the pager days. Moved through the models as improvements emerged. Very confortable with the mini keyboard, even proficient. My last model, the Z10 all touchscreen, saved my bacon and sanity throughout my confinment and...

Never Used Easy Spin-Drier in the Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area

You go, Steve! Get thee to eastern Calfornia. Take the wagon and lots of fluffy blankets & quilted bedspreads - it'll travel fine. It's a pristine beauty. I know the thrill. After all, I did score me a 1935 Air-Way DirtMastR this fall. They are as rare as the Easy Spin. You'll remember me from...

    Electric Coffee Percolators Tableaus

For those that haven't see it yet there is an extraordinary tribute thread in memory of Terry Lattz over on Vacuumland, by Rick 'crevicetool' Winkler. It takes the form of a 12 Months Of Coffee Hostess Parties illustrated Calendar. The discriptive text will leave you in stitches. Please pour...

1960 STAINLESS STEEL WESTERN HOLLY STOVE & OVEN

Seriously guys, if someone here has already claimed it and picked it up (Kevin?) I beg you to re-sell it to me. I'm that enthralled by the set. Because of my recovery I won't be able to be there or help out but Pete in Sarnia/Port Huron has the means to retrieve it and I would put it in storage...

    Readers Rides 2012

Legacy GT road clearance - 6.1" vs OBXT's 8.7". and I luv the Subaru frameless windows. Brings back that 1960s hardtop feeling when the door opens with the window down and there's no frame to bang your elbows on. :-) Sadly the post 2009 Subarus have adopted window frames. :-(
