Oven
Well, I fitted the new jets to the hob and then wondered if one of the old ones would be the right size to convert the oven. I had never checked out the oven but it also runs too hot and makes soot. It is just as well I took off the burner cover today though, as there was a large build up...
It looks like I have found the answer by looking at Ebay listings for jets. It appears they have pretty much standardised the thread size etc on European cookers and mine are that type (M6 x 0.75mm with 7mm AF hexagon). Ironically the supplier is in Hungary but sells on Ebay US and UK. Even if...
I just wondered if any of you have experience in re-jetting a stove to run on bottled gas, for example butane / propane mix, instead of methane? Am I right in thinking the jets are smaller for LPG? If this is the case it means you can't just drill them out slightly (assuming suitable drills...
I don't remember ever having to change a module on a Hotpoint 95 series, they were extremely reliable. It is good that there is the expertise within the group to design and build such boards though.
If it worked OK last year there is probably not much wrong. You could try unplugging the timer and switch connection blocks and spraying the contacts with Servisol switch cleaner. It could just be a bit of dirt or corrosion on a contact.
I wonder if belts from other machinery would fit, drill presses for example? It is always more difficult if you don't have an old one to show prospective suppliers though.
A jockey pulley is there to put tension in the belt, not take it out! Tumble dryers normally have them because the belt tension could otherwise vary with temperature as things expand and contract. On the spinner you will also get variation of the belt temperature due to frictional heat between...
I can't really tell from the photo what the problem is with the new hose but sometimes you can modify them by cutting the hose at a straight section and inserting a short length of a suitable size copper pipe and clamping the assembly with jubilee clips.
That timer knob bush comes in 2 different lengths but don't panic if the new one is a different length to the old, it should still work OK. Sometimes the teeth break on the inner cam part as well so you may need both bits.
5 loads a week sounds like a lot for a toploader which can take quite big loads. I've never used one but I would guess you could do multi temperature washes by starting with a high temperature for e.g. towels, letting the water cool down to 40 degrees and adding your lower temperature items...
It seems strange to me that a 2004 dryer suddenly becomes a fire hazard in 2016! All dryers can suffer from internal fluff build up if not operated according to the instructions so all dryers are potential fire hazards.
I don't know if Hoover ever fitted laminated brushes but if the did they might have just split rather than be fully worn. If they were just called to do a general service the belt and brushes would probably have been renewed anyway, regardless of condition.
In Hungary I mostly buy unsliced 1 kg white loaves in the shape known as a bloomer in UK. I slice the whole loaf when I get home and put it in the freezer. Even frozen it is stale within about 2 weeks. The cheapest bread in town is from Tesco and that is often still warm when you buy it. Even...
In the other Keymatic thread there was some discussion about the reasons for not marketing these machines in USA. Some of those factors would seem to also apply in Australia. It is a huge country with some people living on remote sheep stations etc. where it would be difficult to get technicians...
