I'm not a Maytag expert, but is seems like you may be missing one digit in the model number. I have a LAT8624 that was made in Dec 1995. I think one of the guys will need the serial number to narrow down the manufacturing date. Pictures are nice too

This machine is pure junk. You can take one look at them from the bottom and figure that out. I've never seen so much plastic and flimsy parts. I think they are trying to force you to buy a more expensive machine. I'll repair my KA DD when it needs it.

I've seen some models like that that has the vent on the side of the door. Usually on the left side. Doesn't seem smart as that steam is going directly onto your wooden cabinets.
