Why Has Whirlpool Never Sold a BOL Power Clean Module?

More I think he is a bored engineer who likes appliances like we do but does not get enough fiber in his diet. Always remember: My friends knew me before Metamucil, they prefer me after.

    $500.00 more for 2-minute pizza? I'll wait.

Looks like their ovens get hotter in this mode than a regular range would, almost to the point of self cleaning. How safe is this in a residential setting, because self clean locks the oven to keep the user out. These are probably their next generation of ranges and an "excuse" to raise the price.

Why Has Whirlpool Never Sold a BOL Power Clean Module?

I do know that the Ultrawash versions of Kenmore dishwashers were made by Whirlpool starting around 1985. Maybe Whirlpool felt no need to make low priced machine because Sears had D&M lower priced dishwashers. Later low priced Kenmores were made by GE

    GE A/Cs : 1950s-1991

I notice the small air conditioners that are GE brand, now made by Haier, are of a more conventional form than the Carry Cool. I guess these are more efficient? As for the Zone Line used in motels, did Trane get them or did Haier get them? We know Jack didn't like them. By the way, if...

    GE A/Cs : 1950s-1991

You must not know about the "legend" of Jack Welch and the story of what he did with the General Electric Company. He became CEO of GE in 1981 and now General Electric is not anything like the company before JW. There is at least one member of this board who worked for GE. Jack eventually...

    GE A/Cs : 1950s-1991

I thought air conditioning was one of first things Jack Welch got rid of at GE, because he said "I don't like HVAC".

Do you use heated dry on your dishwasher?

It helps to open the door if the machine is still warm and let the dishes dry. I have the Bosch 100 series premium. John is right in that I should have bought the KitchenAid but the KA had too "funky" and I liked the styling of this one better. It will sometimes leave wet dishes, even with a...

    Vintage Appliance Advertisements: Part Thirty

About the Hamilton Beach ad # 9 with the mixer and the blender and the scissors: If you want to keep your marriage together, you DO NOT give your wife Anything With A Cord on Mother's Day!

I think I'm going to finally buy a front loading washer and I have many questions

Well I will chime in here 1. The measurements you give should be OK for the washer but might be a bit tight if you want the matching dryer. in my situation, I have about 6 inches behind the dryer for the exhaust pipe and electric connections. What dryer do you have now? 2. I have the LG...

When did Maytag start to go bad?

It does beg the question... How did Whirlpool save Maytag? There is nothing left of Maytag except for the label.

Maytag Machines After Whirlpool Buyout - What Remained?

Those washers were Whirlpools Also Whirlpool closed their refrigerator plant in Evanville, Indiana about that time but I guess that was always a Whirlpool facility.

When did Maytag start to go bad?

I don't think Whirlpool saved Maytag Whirlpool just slapped the Maytag label on Whirlpool products. All of the Maytag manufacturing was shut down. Maybe WP could have kept Newton open for DC production for laundromats and consumers who wanted the machine but chose not to. To be truthful, I...

When did Maytag start to go bad?

Wide by side was Magic Chef Actually, I think the Norge made washers were decent, it was the then "Amanatags" that were so much trouble. If Maytag wanted Magic Chef, they should have just kept the MC brand and still made the DC washers too labeled Maytag.

If Whirlpool were to bring back the Direct Drives

To place a mechanical timer on the VMW mechanism they have now on the washers, at least on the low priced ones? That would help make them more reliable. Whirlpool should also right now be trying to find a more reliable vendor for the circuit boards and have a program to replace the ones giving...

    GE Semi Solid Tub Washer

Turbo Rinse Action That is what Maytag called the Norge washer that "keeps white clothes white" I don't know if it was a spin drain or not. Also, John, did you not say once that GE changed the holes in the tub because detergents were not having phosphates anymore and that had something to do...

    Corkscrew Agitators

I did not know Whirlpool was in ancient Greece. I would think something like the screw of Archimedes would somehow be in a public domain a long time ago and how would it be patented by Whirlpool?

    Corkscrew Agitators

Was not invented by Sears The spiral that is a dual action agitator was an invention of the Greek mathemetician Archimedes. I guess he was not as well known as Leonard di Vinci.

No love for vintage appliances on Valentine’s Day

Just Krazy glue the broken grille, maybe spray paint it white, and you probably have a collection of knobs from other old appliances you can use.

    Overlapping Bowls

When you are doing a fiber drink... Make sure the glass you use has a clear path for the water, that grit can be difficult to wash off.
