Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I've seen on

My best friend had a 1-18 that died and they went to replace it and got that same model WCI and it had a window in it. I didn't think it was a bad machine but I was very dissapointed that Frigidare quit with the previous agitation system.

P.S. Wish I could fine a GE like that down here.

I'd hazard to say that people are afraid to get F&P fixed, led to believe that repairs are difficult/complicated and parts scarce/expensive because they're "foreign."

GoatFarmer doesn't say what model is the dryer that he trashed. I found gas igniters listed in stock at www.searspartsdirect.com for two current models. F&P also lists a phone number "to order parts" on their web site.

Adding to EasySpinDry's and MiHi's reports, my GWL08 and DE04 will be NINE years old on 8/2/2008.
IWL12 (on sabbatical now so the Neppy TL can play for a while) and DEGX1 four years on 10/4/2008.
DD603 five years on 8/21/2008.
No repairs on any of them thus far.

Word on the street is plasma TVs don't last more than a few years, either. Mine will be six years old come September.

No one has mentioned the interesting slide-lever water level control on the WCI Frigidaire.

Great Finds Rich!
The WCI Frigidaire Crown is a great looking machine! It will be fun to wash in it! These will get rare soon.
Love the SQ Dryer!
You have been working hard finding these beauties.

Rich - wouldn't mind that older GE. I really miss having that mini basket. I haven't had any luck around here finding any at estate sales and used applicance stores.

Question on the Speed Queen dryer- i noticed something like a vent on the top left of the control panel. Is that where it vents from?

Anthony

Nice catches Rich! That's the exact same dryer as mine (I have the matching set). Anthony, that vent is just an optional way to exhaust the dryer indoors, there is a plate that blocks it, diverting the air out the regular pipe at the back.

Rich-

Thanks for sharing the pictures of your latest finds. I'm always interested in seeing anything Frigidaire no matter who made it. This definitely was a rare one. I wish I could find one of those agitators that were 2 piece with the logo on the cap.

Cool WCI Crown washer - with the wart-window lid! I wonder if the washer has the four-port filling system? Definitely an interesting machine to play with for a while.

A family I used to babsit for had that same SQ dryer - vented indors through the top panel. It was a fountain for lint and hunidity!
