1-18 help please

just dug out my 1-18 and repaired the agitate arm problem. it ran fine for a couple days whenever i tried it out.

now the shaft that goes into the pump (with the drive belt pulley on the other end)
will turn about 1/2 inch rotation in either direction before it locks up.

tub spins freely, agitate arm moves freely when i turn roller, i assumed it was the pump locked up. i had already removed drive belt and motor is fine.

took bottom section of pump off, no obstruction in that lower impeller. i removed all screws holding pump to chassis assembly and as far as i can see there is nothing binding up the upper impeller. i could not get upper impeller loose from shaft and did want to damage pump seal so i stopped.

model no. is WIB. would like to download tech talk for the 1-18 but i see there are 3 versions listed here on the site, 1970, 1975, 1979 i believe are the choices.

besides any info on removing rest of pump to see why that shaft is locked could someone please tell me what year my 1-18 is from and which tech talk would be best for me.

found the problem

the lower bearing that the main drive shaft rotates in has locked up.

am wondering if there is any way to replace that bearing, either with a bearing for a 1-18 or maybe a generic bearing i could purchase on line somewhere.

i cannot post pics tonite as this laptop will not let me transfer pics off my phone but when i get back to columbus later this week i will be able to.

there has got to be a way to keep this machine running. it has a new tub seal and bellows that i put in a few years ago, the machine has pretty much sat idle since then. everything else about the machine is in good order.

did download the 1979 tech talk tonite and removed pump without a hitch. pump seal seems in very good condition.

the original problem when i got machine about 12 years ago was the main tub seal leaking. that would explain the failed bearing i would think.

any help appreciated and i will post pics. this is a challenge but enjoyable!

is loosened with a bit of gentle persuasion and a lot of wd-40 and 3 in one oil.

Hi Peter, you can probably find the sparing just online. I’m sure I would have one. If you can’t find one. I have a whole bunch of complete used mechanisms. Also I just sent one out to another guy trying to fix his 1to18.

Was hoping you would see my post.

I decided to pull out my 1-18 and my 4 rollermatics recently and go on a frigidaire binge!

I was hoping you might have some parts for sale and I will email you directly when I get home tonite.

Also taking a complete inventory of all my frigidaire parts I have collected over last 15 years.

3 of my rollermatics work, the 4th I am starting to completely reassemble after a tear down back in 2013.
Put new starting capacitors on all 3 working rollermatics, bought them on eBay.

Enjoying this rollermatic summer a lot, great stress relief!
