This was probably my favorite game show back in the Dick Clark days, and still remains entertaining with the later versions, most recently hosted by that gap-toothed O.J. clone Michael somethingorother who is such a whore he'll take any gig he's offered.

LOL,,,poor ole Michael does not have the panache that Dick Clark had...I also liked the old school mechanical pyramid, flipping the clues around. The new set is very high tech, but there is something lost in it, and it may just be me...

I Enjoy Watching OLD Game Shows....

.....on BUZZR (I have limited basic t.v. channels) EXCEPT for the lengthy commercials (which I just mute).
Password (the OLD B&W episodes), Password Plus, Supermarket Sweep, Sale of the Century, Card Sharks, Beat the Clock (OLD ones), and a really funny one called "The Name's the Same" where thy bring people on that have names of famous people, everyday objects, etc. and have the panel try to guess the name.

Some of the OLD B&W shows include commercials of the day which are always fun. On "The Name's the Same, one of the sponsors is Bendix (Avco) which, of course, are among my FAVORITE old commercials to watch!

Family Feud….

Richard Dawson was OK.....

Richard Karn, although handsome, didn't quite fit the show.....

Now Steve Harvey.....he is a trip.....its not even the show itself, but the jokes and comments alone are worth watching for...

Yeah, even Vanna White is, as they used to say on "Are You Being Served?" redundant.  The letters don't turn anymore.  They just light up.  Easy enough to do from behind the scenes.

And damn, that girl has a really good plastic surgeon!  Up top she looks like a youngster, but the giveaway is that she walks like Barbara Walters.

A good number of people love game shows

When I was working in PR and planning charity functions, I would many times use a game show theme or premise to make the gig more unique and fun. I wanted something where the entire audience could participate in the event and people would really get pumped up.

We once built a set where nine people would sit, it was identical to the Hollywood Squares. We filled the squares with local luminaries and came up with fun questions to pose to the panel. Some of the replies were hallarious.

I remember the whole time praying that the engineer had made triple sure that the 20’ high set / scaffolding, with nine people sitting in it was safe. We used that set on several occasions and each time raised more funding for whatever the cause happened to be.... so much more fun that some silent auction or other fundraising add on.

I just watched an episode of the 25,000 pyramid and in the winners circle the following clue came around : “Things That Are Stiff”....... and yes....” a starched shirt”, “a cast”, “an erection” led to the win! (this was in the late 70s or mid 80s, I am guessing, because Dick Clark was. The host).

I don't watch games show very often at all.. I watched Family Feud a couple of times but I just can't abide Steve Harvey. I don't find him to be the least bit funny which always leaves me wondering why when so many other people do.

I'm a big fan of 50s/60s/70s game shows. I have vague memories of watching GE College Bowl, with Allen Ludden hosting, as a young child. I distinctly recall the original versions of Match Game and The Price Is Right, which were a lot different from the 1970s versions that everyone has seen. I liked to watch the Art Fleming version of Jeopardy, even though I couldn't answer very many of the questions -- I think I actually learned some things from watching it. There was another quiz show called the Who, What or Where Game which had questions as hard as Jeopardy, but had more strategic elements. Concentration was another favorite.

I enjoy Family Feud, but I love the Richard Dawson ones. I can't stand Steve Harvey, so I don't even bother watch them. As a kid, I watched the Ray Combs versions. They are ok. I've not seen the Richard Karn or the John O'Hurley episodes and don't care to much for the Louie Anderson ones.

My two favorite game shows are Match Game (the 70's versions with Gene Rayburn) and What's My Line. I also enjoy watching Press Your Luck, Supermarket Sweep, Password Plus, Card Sharks, and Tattletales.

I caught a vintage Password show from the early '60s with celebrity guest Jane Fonda.  She was a total ingenue that you'd never expect to create such controversy and polarization just a few years later.
