My Aunt Louise had a Norge Timeline Washer just like the one in the POD. We had one of it’s sister ships, a Hamilton Timeline automatic washer and we also had a Norge Timeline dryer like the one in the POD, except the knobs on ours were black instead of red. The dryer had a brake lever near the filter that you could pull up and the drum would stop spinning so you could place items like sweaters and tennis shoes on a rack in the drum in order to dry them without tumbling them.

The dryer feature with no tumbling was referred to as stop 'n' dry. We had the Norge15 DispenseoMat washer arriving on December 23rd 1963. The matching dryer arrived February 1964

Norge dryers were ahead of their time in the 1950's through the mid 1960's. It's a shame cheapened it in the late 60's. Also a shame their washers weren't built as well as the early dryers.

Those Norge dryers were literally the most durable dryers ever made, think John mentioned awhile back he had one many years ago that was filled with motors and scrap metal and started up like it was nothing.
