A friend found this while thrifting. A wind up range oven timer. Keeps great time as a wind up clock but I assume you'd plug it in to the range with the chord and control the bake time.

Thats a cute clock, the plug thats on it is the same as the 240v plugs we've always had in AU and that existed in the US for a while in the 30's, yet the clock states that it is 115v.

Is the clock 115v, but is there a relay in there that switches the 220v on and off? I assume L1 and N give the clock power and L1 + L2 give the oven power? Is the cord a heavy enough guage to support that much current?

The clock is a standard wind up clock. It runs while unplugged. The plug looks like a standard 220v. plug BUT it's much smaller so it can't be plugged into a regular socket. I didn't take it apart (it's not mine...) but I would assume there are contacts inside that can interrupt power to the oven elements. I'd want to see the matching stove to this clock and look it over before going to much further...

I'm guessing it's a specialty plug designed for the clock as part of a switching relay.

660w, 115v makes no apparent sense. The current for a heating element does not appear to flow through this.

That is cool as hell! The plug must have fit the original range it came with??

Maybe we will never know, but it is a great find!
