Hi everyone, been awhile and its good to be back....I hit the mother lode tonight when I purchased a 1930's Conover dishwasher. This baby is immaculate and the porcelain is nearly perfect, interior is sparkling, AND it has all the original manuals including the sales receipt and a service call charge ticket from 1941 bought it from the granddaughter of the original owner...pictures are forthcoming...can ya tell I am excited!!

Congratulations on a rare find. Westinghouse bought Conover to be able to have a dishwasher. The Wesinghouse Pavilion at the 1939 World's Fair showed the drop door Conover-design dishwasher. The strange thing is that Westinghouse went to the roll out wash well design and kept it until their front loading machine which was check rated by Consumer Reports in 1965.

Conover Dishwasher pictures

You've heard about it, you've read about it in magazines. Now for the First Time ever see The Conover Electric Dishwasher

Wowsers!!!

Please show the insides! I'd love to see the racks in that. How did you manage to find the mother of dishwashers? I gotta have the story!

Yes, can't wait to see more pictures and hear the story about this great find.

Here are the front and back sides of a Conover Dishwasher brochure that I bought on ebay a while back. (I believe I posted these before.)

Pretty please

That's a great brochure Mike, would you be able to scan that at a higher resolution (at least 150dpi so we can read the text) and send it to me? I would love to use that as the POD sometime.

Robert: This is a brochure that folds up, and you might be able to see that it is damaged. I scanned sections of what I called "front page" and edited them together in Windows Paint to make it readable without rotating my head.

The "back page" appears correct.

I'll see what I can do to get it in a higher resolution.

1930s Dishwasher

Hello All!

The Baldwin-Reynolds House Museum in Meadville, PA is looking to recreate a 1930s kitchen in a room that once held one. We have the stove, refridgerator, hoosier cabinet, etc, but are really looking for a 1930s dishwasher like the ones discussed here...any chance anyone has any advice on where to find one? Websites, salvage, restoration, classifieds, etc? It would make a great addition!

Thanks!

Joshua Sherretts
