In a long ago thread about vintage HVAC equipment, I posted a picture of the floor furnace in a friend's 1936 duplex (reprised below). Last week, her tenant's identical furnace stopped functioning. It sounded to me like a thermocouple issue, but the tech that came out replaced the original thermostat (as well?).
Knowing me as she does, my friend saved the thermostat and offered it to me. I gladly accepted it. When I turn the temperature dial, I hear a faint click that seems to indicate it still works. Is there a way to check this without hooking it up to a heater, like maybe with a simple continuity tester?
