Have a 1937 GM frigidaire refrigerator with the meter miser compressor. Runs but doesn't cool. must have a leak - uses R114. What are my options of getting this running ??? Is R114 available or is a substitute available ??
I have a old G.E that older, it lost it's cool, and I had someone that came out that recharged it with R 409A. Only took 6 ounces. The fittings had to be changed, but only took the guy 10 min to do that, and 10 min to recharge.
Can u share a pic of yours?
beleive this is a 1938 Frigidaire meter miser - does anybody know where the model # can be found on these ? This unit low on R114 (@ 15 PSI and then -20 when running, so compressor is working well. My thoughts are that I can evacuate this and install R124. Anybody have suggestions on where to find R114 ??
Been painted olive green - but is in pretty good shape.
I saw this post and wondered if someone could tell me what year my refrigerator was made. The model # is stenciled on the back (SVS-6-40).
It was given to me by a friend years ago - President of a Rose Society, who used it to preserve roses due to its lack of a self-defrost feature. It still runs and cools well. Did have to replace the electrical cord.
I would say June of 1940,almost all of the Frigidaires Ive seen are dated at the time, like this one I use a 193o daily for the last 33 years only repair a new cord great little machine!Bobby
Any suggestions on finding a freezer door, cold storage bin, quickube ice trays and straight shelf for this 1940 Frigidaire SVS-6 (Super-Value 6 cu. ft.)? This was the lowest priced Frigidaire ever offered. One would think they would be ubiquitous. However, in all of my internet browsing I have only seen one illustrated in a vintage 1940 Santa Claus magazine ad and referenced in other newspaper and magazine ads. Have yet to run across an actual photo online.
Hi! Mine doesnt have a freezer door and never did!!!! Mine doesnt even have a light, and you dont need one.I ll tell you one thing with temps here hovering at 100 and 50 percent humidity I had ice on top of my orange juice and talk about refreshing after walking Charlie this morning! They are good ol boxes.Bobby
Well, yes, mine has been working fine without the freezer door and light bulb as well. Though I suspected, I really wasn't sure that it came with a freezer door until I saw this picture. Have you owned yours all along or did you acquire it? Does yours have a drawer as well?
