1950 L&H

This 1950 L&H is available at antiqueappliances.com. I like it first and foremost because it has extra burners in the middle, where I can put a cast-iron griddle on a permanent basis for tortillas (our household is half Mexican, and we're sick of shuffling the griddle/comal off of and onto the rangetop).

What we need, though, are some good-working burners and an oven that’s true. Would this L&H give us that?

I think this model has concealed burners in the oven, which I don’t want, although Antique Appliances may be able to replace that with something more standard. Other than that, I know very little about L&H other than what I’ve read in the small number of posts on this site. Does anyone here have this model. Do you have any thoughts on the burners, the oven, the broiler? How roes L&H compare to one of the really reliable, easy-to-fix brands like Westinghouse, General Electric, or Frigidaire?

If you were totally frank, would you tell me to forget the extra burners and go with one of the three top mainstream brands?

Any help is appreciated.

I had and used one of these for over 15 years. The ovens were wonderful and had old fashioned coil elements under a reflector, not under the floor. The cooktop was wonderful, too. I miss it, but a house fire saw to the end of it. No, the stove didn't cause the fire. The burners had 7 heats, too.

I was at Jowers some time ago and saw that range, I think you would love it, they were a well built quality product, Jowers is expensive, but you will get a quality product in like new condition, the Monotube units will outlast anything and are wonderful even heating and sturdy.
