Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Forty two clams for a used wringer? Guess when automatics were selling for three hundred new the little lady would have to take what she could get... *LOL* Adjusted for inflation that sale price would be $374.59 today.

Ironically $200 to $300 (or more) is what many today are trying to get for used wringers.

The washer that the two men are looking at is an ABC. You can tell that by looking at the lid, the handle is offset. The wringer is another clue. The release bar and the handle on the side that re-sets the wringer are ABC features.

What a great surprise to see Rock's Hardware. Bennett Rock, my cousin owned the store and I have never seen a picture of it. He moved his family to Englewood FL and opening a motel/fishing camp. His Greatgrand son now lives in the DC are.

Used Wringer Washer Picture

Notice not only is Mr. Big Spender *not* splashing out to get his wife a automatic, he's going with some off the wall brand of wringer instead of Maytag. *LOL*

That being said it seems clear those two Maytag washers probably weren't going cheap. Unlike the others with prices prominently displayed up front, you don't see that with the Maytag units.

Interesting that the aluminum tub Maytag seems so much larger than the porcelain tub version. Everything about the Maytag units seem so much more robust and substantial compared to the others. Even their wringer heads seem more solidly built and powerful.
