As you may remember, I got a 1955 D&M built Kenmore dishwasher from Customline back in February.  The top gasket around the lid is leaking when I run the machine.  Right now I'm just using a towel to keep water from running down the side of the machine, but I am considering replacing the gasket.  Does anyone have any recommendations of where to look for something that could work?  Thanks!

Hi Will, you shouldn't have to replace the original gasket. What I would try first is going to your hardware store and buy some closed cell foam. Make sure you buy closed cell and not open cell. The foam on one side should have peel off sticky glue so you can attach it to the lid. I would attach it to the underside of the lid edge where it meets the rubber gasket when the lid closes. This most likely will cure any leaks. It will slightly take more pressure to close the lid, but it will be worth it to have a leak free dishwasher.

Thanks Fellas!

I'll make a trip down to the hardware store and check on the tape, Robert.  If that doesn't work, I'll check into the gasket, Phil.  Thanks again!
