Well boys I finally found my dream stove, anyone who knows me knows I am a nut for anything Norge, well here is the estate sale find of the century, a 1955 Norge 41 inch range, complete with 2 ovens, 1 speed heat unit,1 thermostatically controlled unit,a dual service deep well unit, color lighted controls and a griddle, has anyone ever seen one of these, thanks to Roanoake Robert for finding it for me, and to Dynaflow for helping me install it,all it needs is a switch for the flourescent light, hope you enjoy the pix.

Awesome Range!

I've never seen one of these before, not even in adverts. It's really nice to see something besides GE's and Frigidaire's 40-inchers - and I'll bet it's even more wonderful to own.

Congratulations, and what time did you say dinner was?

Years from now, you'll be glad it's a Norge!

Those were the days and I am so happy for you finding your dream range!
John LaFever gave me an awesome GE 40" model decades ago and I loved it!It enabled me to learn how to be so precise in my cooking and I was completely converted from gas to electric.I feel I have more control on the heat on both the cooktop and oven.Gas may cost less but can become very wastefull and polute your environment.

Thats a weird light there. Does it swing up and down? I wonder how they marketed that feature?

And how exactly does the griddle heat? Is the heat element embedded in the griddle itself?

That is an absolutely awesome stove! Is the thumbwheel below the clock a minute timer?

More pix of the front and the deep well if you can manage!

They just had to have that extra inch, eh?

HOW COOL! Enjoy it Hans.

Does my eye spy the center of the knob being illuminated when the burner is energized?

Info on Norge

The griddle has embedded elements like a frypan, it plugs in to a outlet under the stove top with prongs like a oven element, the thumbwheel under the clock is the griddle control, basically an infinite heat control, the flourescent light swings out over the cooking surface, I guess to illuminate the inside of a pot,I don't know who thought that one up,the control knobs light up different colors as you turn the knob from warm, which is lavender up to high it changes todarker purple, then shades of yellow then red

Sometimes, it makes all the difference...

VERY clean. How 'on the money' are the ovens for temp? It looks like the previous owner really took care of it. Nice find!

Love Vintage stoves

like these. This is the first one I can remember with a griddle. My grandparents had one with a well or slow cooker. Especially useful when doing soups and beans.

down witrh my back now

yes that old drag queen has wide hips for a girl her age, she weighs a tons but still has all the glamor she always had. nothing like helping a friend play with a new toy. he and Donald are super guys glad they r a part of my life, love um almost as much as my Aristo craft cookware hehe

What a beauty!!

I'm glad she found a good home. My Westinghouse Commodore is a 40". You'll love the space. As for oven temps, both of my ovens are spot-on and they hold temperature better than the new GE range I had before I found this one. Happy cooking!

I love the placement of the fluorescent light.

That bulb looks like a Classic Westinghouse or sylvania F30T12

Congratulations on your super find and having a friend to help schlep it home. Does it have open coil broiler elements? They give very intense heat quickly. I am happy for you. I never saw Norge ranges with this much style. It must have been sneaked into production by some mad designer like at Amana when they produced the RRL-10A with the all plastic door face. The CEO thundered and roared there would be no more, but sales took off and the old style door was to become history.

Congratultions Hans that is one beautiful range!! Boy you are going to be doing some cooking now!!!!!!!!!

Wow Hans!! I'm real excited for ya!! Another dream come true!!! The knobs are reminiscent of filterFlo's DispensoMat washer. Wanna see photos of the front. The bear wants to know, when's the food-in???

This should serve

. . . as a remider to us all that we are currently going through a period where incredible things are becoming available as a result of so many parents of boomers closing up shop as they move to smaller homes, are institutionalized or passing on. The window will be closing at some point. For those who are able, now is the time to be snapping up whatever you have room for.

That wouldn't include me, but I know we have members who have the ability to store some extra items or find homes for those they can't. We'll never see this type of opportunity again. It's everyone's responsibility to help save this stuff. It's the motherlode and at some point in the not too distant future it's going to be depleted.

What a shame it would have been if this beautiful and likely very rare Norge had gone to the crusher. For every item like this that's saved, how many might we be losing?

N O R G E

I don't know why but I have always been fascinated by the odd or unusual,Maytag GE Hotpoint Electrolux were all so common when I was growing up, I was never too enthused about them, but let me see Norge,Admiral Westinghouse Apex Frigidaire, then I got excited, thanks so much everyone for the nice comments, thanks so much estatesalegary for the ad info, I think advertising was Norges downfall, they never did the beutiful full page ads like Hotpoint Frigidaire or Westinghouse, I also have a 47 Norge range which I used daily for several years, and I still think it bakes better than any thing I have ever used ,I hope this 55 model bakes as well, Ill let you know and try to post more pix.
