Went to get it today. The seller is the daughter of the original owner, who got the set as a wedding present in 1955. According to her, the washer broke years ago, and they were always on the first floor of their house. She is glad it went to a good home and also said in her mom would be pleased!. It has the music box and heats up, but have not tried the timer yet. It looks like its missing trim around the pull to start knob. Ill go through it to check it out, but so far, so good! Congratulations, Jerry!

Great story about its history.
I'm glad it has a good new home!
I have the pair of these. Except mine are significantly smaller.
And one has an "S" on top of it, and one has a "P".
Sorry. I couldn't resist.
Looks nice! Enjoy!

Jerry, thanks for the pics. A terrific history story too.   Looks so nice there.  You referenced a pull to start knob--I'm assuming that's the knob on the left.  I'm also assuming when that knob is pulled, without setting the timer, that it goes into "auto dry" mode (or auto cook).  Knowing how hot those dryers dried, I cannot imagine a model without having the regular/low/air fluff options.

Congratulations Jerry!  A great save and thanks for sharing the backstory about the dryer.

If the timer seems balky, there's a good chance the escapement is gummed up.  A little PB Blaster should free this up though.

Yes, took it apart go clean it and epoxy the broken metal where the hinge attaches inside the door, though it came off when I lowered the door..Ill try JBWeld..It will need new belts, as they are frayed, but the timer works and the music box plays great!. I need the bezel around the pull to start knob, as its missing and will eventually repaint the drum, but so far , so good! [this post was last edited: 11/4/2018-09:22]

I

Wish I had kept that part from a dryer I recently parted out, I would have given it to you. I don't think the BJ weld will work, it needs a little real weld though it looks like you might be able to put a small metal brace next to that area with some screws to secure it. Best of luck. Personally I wouldn't worry about painting the drum just my opinion. Thanks
