Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Looks like they originally got as TOL with this as they could.  Two ovens.  I've never seen a version of this with a sensi-temp burner.

Bob, I'd bet a dishwasher or two that the Sensi-Temp was put in to replace the original thermostatic Calrod unit (you can see that at least one of the push-button units was replaced too).

Odd about the listing - on the LA Craigslist, but the location given is St-Louis MO...  I'm old and suspicious of everything now!

Is it just me, or does it appear to have been painted as well? Almond wasn't an available paint color in 1955 - which is my guess as to when this is from, based on the oven control knobs. The automatic calrod thermostat does look like it was replaced, based on the knob - but I didn't think the sensi-temp appeared until 1956.

It's very cool nonetheless, certainly something you don't see every day. I love the cabinets right above the countertop - so cute with those little sliding glass doors!

Gary,  these Wonder Kitchens actually had all kinds of 'configurations' - the buyer had the choice of several components including the washer/dryer unit, the Disposall, the dishwasher, and the style of range.   The option was to replace an appliance with a cupboard unit as needed.   Funny that most of the ones that do turn up have (or had) the washer/dryer combo and the dishwasher.

Luckily mine came with the washer/dryer and dishwasher, but sadly the Disposall unit was missing.

I'm with Fred...something doesn't look right in the hue department. Woodtone brown is practically unshaded copper and there's some wood paneling there for comparison. Pink...maybe. But it matches the 'new' fridge too well.

Check out the post in the link below.  I think it's a '54 GE Combination -- in this same shade.

It makes me think the cream color was an option in 1954, and that the kitchen above is earlier than 1956, which would also explain why there was never a wall fridge.
