I might add that the temp controls on these machines are really good ones with respect to maintaining a constant temperature. The fluctuation isn't more than a degree or so one way or the other. I don't think I've ever owned a machine that maintained such a steady temperature in the fresh food section.

Now to just get it to maintain a little bit cooler of one.

Man, what I wouldn't give to have some door shelves! Looks great Ralph. Porcelain or painted finish?

Yeah Ben, I've decided I need door shelves. If I had gone for an early Combo, I'd need to use rack space for overflow from the main fridge or seldom used items. The pickle jars on the lowest shelf won't fit in the door on this one. A small compromise I can certainly live with.

Here's a picture I found on line of a Combination I'd consider, since it doesn't use forced-draft condenser cooling. I don't know what year it is, but I'm guessing maybe 1955. It's hard to tell if those door shelves would hold a quart bottle.

Same fridge, exterior. This one is in the hands of the vintage appliance dealer in Tucson. To say he's a huge thief is an understatement. He wants like $5,000 for this thing.

Andy, she's already got 53 years of faithful service in! At this point she has earned the sweet light-duty life of auxiliary fridge and drink cooler, and plenty of well-deserved TLC.

Meanwhile, the KDS-20 awaits its turn to shine, safely stored in the garage until that time comes.
