1958 Imperial Frigidaire

Ummmmmmm PHILR!

This isn't a frost free model, is it? Sure looks like it! I'd be all over this one if it was in the upper Midwest.

EDIT - it appears as though the FP-142-58 has the ice dispenser in the door. Regardless, this is still a cool fridge, no pun intended.

"I've been told that it works."

I'm betting that translates into, "It doesn't."

Just where is this fridge situated that there's not a 120V outlet within reasonable proximity to plug it in and test it? For the ridiculous asking price of $585, any interested buyer is going to want to know for sure.

I agree, Ralph. Plug it in, does it run, does it get cold? It runs, perhaps - but maybe it's not getting cold. The price is baseless til condition is determined, but as Ben said, this is a cool fridge.

WOW!

This is the appliance that made me like Frigidaire appliances so much! And I'm still searching for the Frost-Proof version!

And I wish I had the money to get it even if it's not Frost-Proof...

As you can see, the badge is located on the freezer door on the Cold Pantry and on the refrigerator door on the Frost-Proof... And Ben already mentioned the other differences.

Still one of my favorite fridges.

I love that style!

If I could get that, I'd try to find a 1959 Frost-Proof model and combine a few parts to make a clone of my dream fridge!

So even though the subject fridge isn't frost proof, they still employed a fan to move cold air from the evaporator into the fresh food section? I thought that system was only used on frost proof models.

Thanks for pointing out that badge location is the indicator to look for.

Hans, it's a left hinged door but...

This isn't a self-defrosting model... So if you really want it, ask the seller if it really works and go for it (and I think it's not too far from you?!). And if you ever get bored with it, let me know!!

Ralph,

All the Frigidaire bottom-freezer models have a fan in their food section. Instead of having a visible cold plate like the top-freezer Cycla-Matic models, theirs is hidden behind the refrigerator liner.

But otherwise, it's just like any Cycla-Matic.

I'd be very happy if a club member saved this one! The main issue with these fridges could be the cold plate itself. But the one in my 1961 is still fine so...
