1958 sears kenmore classic range

Pretty, but . . .
Clearly not from '58, more like about 10 years later. Looks like a fairly deluxe model and having the lower cabinet is a plus, but there's not a vast amount of interest in these Frigidaire Flair knock-offs.

I was meaning who manufactured it for Sears.
I suspect this is by Roper but might be wrong; John would know for sure.

Yes Hans is correct and I will add my 1/10th of 1% to make it official, ITS A Roper and like so many ill-fated appliances of the past it has only survived because it saw very little use.
But I am really glad you posted it, it must be one of the only remaining ones in this condition, hopefully someone will want to buy it if you want to sell it.

Good observation Hans, these Roper built Hi-Oven ranges just had pot-metal door frames where the hinge pins were directly in the pot-metal and they used to wear very badly to the point that the user had to lift the doors when closing the door. We saw ones that wore so much that the doors actually fell off, these ranges were no where as well built as GE, Frigidaire, Hotpoint, and even Westinghouse.
But a cool trip down memory lane.

These Roper/Kenmore French Doors on the ovens also had a troublesome gasket between the doors. It was a type of Neoprene and deteriorated over time from heat and grease. I guess they did not want a fiberglass gasket possibly shedding fibers over pans on the cooktop each time the oven was opened, but these gaskets put up with a lot more abrasion than a gasket on the door of a regular oven, no matter the material.
My Aunt Julie had one of these from the time they built their house in '65, until it (house) burned down in March '88. She said she was planning to get a new range soon when that happened. (No, the range did not cause the fire).
